A lot of people waited to see what the PS3 could do before buying a 360 last gen (including me). I think the 360 is gonna take the lead next year and never look back. Same as when the DS Lite set the market on fire, trouncing the 3DS. Off to q great start but I don't think it can be sustained.

And how much did MS slash the price of the 360 in the same time frame?

Lets not act like both consoles are in a similar situation, xb1 is handily beating the 360 now, but its not the same situation

I think people are jumping sooner into this new gen, it's a good sign that the timing was good and the pricing for the systems was fair.

And wasn´t the launch price for 360 399$ and 299$ for the two models and it was the only 7th gen console for a year? So you are right, the circumstances were quite different...

Not overly impressive at all, i was there 360 was one big hot mess early on. Sure early launch worked vs sony but it caused 99 issues and a bitch was not one of them. The whole gen was a twisted mess early on.

X1 is doing fine. But the xbox brand wasn't nearly as strong as it is now.

The X1 won't catch the PS4 in WW sales, but if MS keeps cranking exclusives it will certainly surpass tge 360 and be deemed a huge success. Both Sony and MS have strong exclusive line ups this time around and the further we get into the generation, the more justified it will be to own both consoles.

The XBox brand is going no where soon (despite what some would try to have you believe).

The RRoD actually inflatted sales on paper due to people who were impatient and went out to buy a second or third console as a replacement.  Stupid I know, but it happend.
