wii u didn't release too soon and is comparable in power with ps4/xone.

Yeah, no, it's not. It's comparable in power to the PS3/360- slightly worse CPU, decently better GPU. It heavily lags behind the PS4/One- an aging architecture, less cores in the CPU, a GPU that's generations behind, and much less RAM.

Simple question if acording to you, wii u is only slightly more powerfull than ps360: why does it have much better graphics than those, while running the games at a minimum of 720p 60fps on every optimizied title and ps360 games were mostly sub hd at 30fps and graphics quite bellow wii u?

Simple anwer: wii u is quite more powerful than the previous gen consoles due to much better gpu and much more ram. it doesn't lag behind ps4/x1 at all. those 2 may have more raw power, but we don't see much difference in this age.

these were the words: "When this happens, home consoles and handheld devices will no longer be completely different, and they will become like brothers in a family of systems."

I doesn't get much clearer than that. there will be handhelds and there will be home consoles. there's no sharing the same games, only sharing the same architeture.

There are many more quotes explaining that they will be sharing the same games but I'm tired of explaining it. It's getting ridiculous. Just read the briefings, it's much more black on white than what you're saying.

No there aren't. Iwata said their next consoles, plural, handheld and home console, would share the same architeture. No mention on sharing games, just easier development, period.

Which games have much better graphics? where are they? The GPU isn't "decently better" either, it's just more modern.

In 5 yrs i'll still be buying games for WiiU while everyone else is playing on thier new "Nii"(used by another user posting in this thread).

I never said there will be only one console smh. There will be handheld and home console, but it will not matter because it will be one single SOFTWARE platform. Here is the key quote:

Iwata:

Still, I am not sure if the form factor (the size and configuration of the hardware) will be integrated. In contrast, the number of form factors might increase. Currently, we can only provide two form factors because if we had three or four different architectures, we would face serious shortages of software on every platform. To cite a specific case, Apple is able to release smart devices with various form factors one after another because there is one way of programming adopted by all platforms. Apple has a common platform called iOS. Another example is Android. Though there are various models, Android does not face software shortages because there is one common way of programming on the Android platform that works with various models. The point is, Nintendo platforms should be like those two examples. Whether we will ultimately need just one device will be determined by what consumers demand in the future, and that is not something we know at the moment. However, we are hoping to change and correct the situation in which we develop games for different platforms individually and sometimes disappoint consumers with game shortages as we attempt to move from one platform to another, and we believe that we will be able to deliver tangible results in the future.

New common platform called "Nintendo something" that will remove the need to port games among different hardware configurations.

Case closed.

Note the word that gets repeated a lot: PROGRAMING. His intention is platforms with the same architeture, because when they move on to the next one, software development will remain incredibly fast and optimized instead of learning how to program on the new machine.

powered by AMD? so meaning no more Wii/WiiU physical disc backward compatibility confirmed...

And which games does the Wii U match up with the PS4/One? The few multiplatform games it has are more comparable to 360/PS3 than the PS4/One. Which games on Wii U look anywhere near as good in terms of raw graphics as Halo 2 remade, Infamous Second Son, or Uncharted 4?

Nintendo makes some great games that look amazing, but none are technically graphically all that great. The Wii U is simply not on the level of the PS4/One when it comes to anti-aliasing, ambient lighting, HD textures, etc.

My Wii U is my favorite console, but to say it is anywhere near the PS4/One in terms of power is just plain wrong. Now, if we're just talking about pure fun, the Wii U has that in the bag.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

I expect the next Nintendo console to be announced in 2016 and release in 2017, around 5 years after the Wii U launched. I expect them to want to move onto to next gen sooner than Sony, and possibly MS, which will probably release the PS5 in 2019 or 2020.  (Edit: After thinking about it,  2019 seems more reasonable.  This way they could help promote it with a celebration of 25 Years of Playstation.)

Also, if Nintendo is going to go the cheap route, again, and aim for HW slightly more powerful than the PS4, then they should expect another repeat of this gen. Core gamers, for the most part, are not looking for slightly better graphics with a gimmicky controller. They are going to want a PS5, which will probably be ~4x-6x more powerful than the PS4 and will probably completely blur the line between cinematic and in game graphics.

I take it you meant the wii? because wii u isn't just slightly more powerfull than last gen.

Hmm, I thought all Nintendo fans had given up on those power hopes.  I guess there are still a few hopefuls out there.  And yes, I mean the Wii and the Wii U.  Both of which were/are just slightly more powerful than the strongest consoles of the previous gen.  The Xbox for the Wii and the PS3 for the Wii U.  In the Wii U's case, it has a better GPU, but a weaker CPU.

And as one of your other comments go, no the Wii U is not comparable or just a little behind the PS4.  It is a generation behind in terms of power.  The specs show this, as does the games' graphics/resolutions.

If they really call it the Nii, no one will be playing on it. You can be sure of that.
