Yes you can. It happens all the time in ads.

no it isnt.  why should they objectify the people in ads?  im buying the axe deo because the ad tells me its a way of getting (more) power over women. the shampo ad tells women they get more attractive to men with this shampo,  etc.

where do you see objectification?

Yeah, I don't think you understand the meaning of sexism. Just look at your response; YOU get power OVER women, WOMEN attracts men. YOU (as a man) is ACCTIVE, while SHE (a woman) is PASSIVE. Things like this is very deeply rooted in our culture and mindset.

men are just more stupid, thats why we got the axe effect.

That's also sexist ;)

See, this tells me you don't understand this AT ALL. So, we're done here.

No. You're buying into the bastardization of the defition of sexism which has been made expansive and broadened by the media instead of looking at it for what it is. People are twisting words so they can control how you percieve things. Also I am a feminist...when I see sexism I'm very upfront to confront it. First and foremost I am eglitarian though.

I disagree with almost everything your saying, but to each their own.

no its not, im not discriminating men in anyway. there are differences in male and female behaviour and it has nothing to do with culture.

Until it's been proven scientifacly, beyond any reasonable doubt, that men are more stupid than women, that's discrimination ;)

Did you know that most of the shopping for the household is by mom/the girl? So tell me again how a moaning woman in an ad will help sell a shampoo to another woman? Oh yeah, I forgot! All women must be bisexual... flawed argument. A lot of the sexualized ads are actually aimed towards other women

In most case are aimed toward men, but when they do aim to women it's because it works. Some women want to buy a product that can make easier for them to attract a man. There are ads where males are used the same way. The male/female difference of treatment it's mainly due to the fact the male brain respond easily to this kind of stimulus.

The most ads with half naked women I've seen are aimed towards women. Please read my latest response to generic-user, it should just be one or two posts above this one

As I said if they are aimed toward women it's because it works that way. The people that make those ads don't care about gender philosophy, they only care about money. A victoria's secrets ads works because men like those models and women which want to be liked by men buy those things. They sell seduction items it wouldn't work if they used ugly models in a victorian attire.

You are wrong when you say

"YOU get power OVER women, WOMEN attracts men. YOU (as a man) is ACCTIVE, while SHE (a woman) is PASSIVE. Things like this is very deeply rooted in our culture and mindset."

Women attracts men not because of culture, but because of nature. Almost all mammals females try to attract the respective males, and the males fight between themself to get the female. That's how the evolution of our species worked out. Beside women aren't passive. They actively use seduction to get their way.

no its not...

1. you cant change a subject to an object(as long as you dont kill the subject) so objectification is a myth.

2. sexism has nothing to do with fucking, even if it includes the word sex.

3. saying something mean to a person isnt discriminating...

Like I've said before in this thread, sexism is very deeply rooted in our culture and society, so we don't even think about it (for the most part). Ad people only care about the money, yes, but since sexism is a part of their mind set, they use it without even thinking about it.

The problem does not lie in the sexism that is present in video games. The problem is how people perceive gender roles as an inherently bad thing.

Is it discriminatory towards the elder to make old cartoon characters with massive ears and noses?
Is it discriminatory towards teenagers to make teen characters that are lazy/arrogant?
Is it discriminatory towards homosexuals to create gay characters that act feminine?

The answer is no. Stereotypes exist for a reason and tend to have some degree of truth to them. Truths which are exaggerated for comedic or artistic purposes.

You may think that a work of art is of bad taste and therefore should be prohibited, but I, for one, is for artistic freedom. After all, no one is forcing you to offend yourself by making you watch and/or experience things that you don't find appealing. And even in the unlikely event that a work of art suddenly causes a person to, say, treat female bodies as objects, the true problem would lie in how this person perceives this art; not in the art itself.

The experience of being the male or female sex causes a difference in thinking patterns. It doesn't stop the equality of learning, which we both do without issue most of the time.

This has been proven long ago.
