People upset by this thread, what you are looking for is called a fan site. Where you are at now is a website dedicated to discussing the console war. Perhaps if you cannot handle the cold hard truth then perhaps it is time to move on. You cannot reject this reality and substitute your own. This site is what it is. Now if you want to color your world happy then a fan site is the place for you.

However these software sales are indicative of trends, the health of a particular console, and the health of the software on that console. Quite frankly it would be highly irregular not to discuss such an interesting development.

I suggest if you cannot handle this way of looking at gaming then its time for you to move on to a fan site. You're looking for something else other than what this site is. Nothing wrong with that, but your feelings are just going to get hurt if you let yourself get attached to two underdog consoles that are going to receive such examinations in front of you on a regular basis. Thats what happens on this site.

To be honest you have no one else to blame but yourselves for congesting the front page with thread after thread bringing attention to the PS3 and PSP. You yourselves have made the Sony brand such a topic of interest.

people want their consoles to play games and their handhelds to play games...that's it...the masses don't care about the other functions that they can perform...those are just side benefits for a small % of the owners

just like ipod crushed the gmini even tho the latter played movies, games, was a photo wallet, etc etc...the masses just wanted to be able to play mp3s on an easy-to-use, stylish player

Ehhh not surprising the PS3 needs to get some good games out.

"Console War bullcrap"? Um, you do know what this site is don't you? It's a site for reviewing the consoles sales and how they fair against one another in the market place. The Console War is what it is called. I'm sorry you seem mistaken as to what this site really is.

I can't believe you responded to what I said by just reafirming it with your own declaration of wanting this to be nothing but the Sony feel good forum. If a topic like this is such an insult to you and your sensitive tastes, then this website is not for you. I'm sorry you've been able to get away with treating the Sony forum like a Sony Fan Site for quite some while now, but if you're not grown up enough to handle the bad with the good, then you're only setting yourself up for stress and dissapointment here.

 If I am one of the people you are refering too, I'm just offering insight on reasons for low software sales. Like I mentioned pirating on the PSP. It's common knowledge that the PSP is really easy to hack and run pirated games on. 

That's fair. Though in response to your specific rebutal:

In the West at least, the PSP has many appeals beyond gameplay, for one, it's very popular in the club scene, its a status symbol in a way, almost as essential to the night as glowsticks, and playing games on it is not why people have it there. It's a way of talking to people in the defening roar of the club scene, hooking up, its a means of a portable music player, internet browser and internet movie player, its a portable communications and media device for a reasonable price. That is its appeal.

To be honest, I think more people use it to play homebrew NES, SNES and Genesis games than people actually use it to pirate PSP games. The DS is actually much much much easier to pirate games for, yet we don't see the same dillemma for it either. You can claim the DS' audience aren't technically advanced enough to do so, but with at least as many if not more DS users capable of pirating know-how given the sheer statistics of userbases, is that really true or just wishful thinking on your part?
