Intel Core i7 2670QM 2.20GHz
8 GB RAM DDR3
750 GB HDD
Intel HD Graphics Family (womp womp)
Windows 7 64-bit

Pretty modest, but it gets the job done. I love it.

My 4K rig

EVGA x99 classified

I7-5960x@4.5GHz

GTX 780ti Tri SLI(tried Quad but was slower than Tri,nice going NV.)

16GB DDR4@3000MHz

right now I'm waiting for a 8GB card to be released, since those 780ti suffer from lack of memory with current games at 4K

also had a 5760x2160 rig ,but had to sell it because of lack of use.

Mine will be similar to this in Feb, when I grab a third Titan Black. I have you beat on RAM amount, but not on speed!

Tried OC'ing my 5960X, couldn't get beyond 4.2GHz without upping the voltage to 1.35v (I detest louder fans). Thus, went back to stock. Guess I don't have a "good" CPU (if you know what I mean).

This PC was not this good before, but used every part from my old 5760x2160 rig, except the GPU which was 295x2 Quad CF.

A Titan Black Tri SLI would be amazing! As for RAM I don't really need that much since I only use my PC's for gaming,16GB was enough even for 5760x2160 res.As for your CPU maybe if you wait for a Mobo with a new revision you'll manage to get to 4.5GHz or higher, also my rig is watercooled which is why I don't worry about heat lol.

Intel i3-2350m
Geforce 610m 1GB GDDR3
8GB DDR3 800mhz

This may come as a surprise, but I'm actually going back to DDR3. DDR4 just wasn't the leap I needed and I actually find that programs were faster with DDR3. I'll jump back in when it matures and Broadwell-E releases!

Do you have any reliable data for this? I was pretty sure to step up to DDR4 for my next rig.

I always find these threads interesting. I wish I spent time to understand what those components mean as well.

Can someone tell me what the purpose of 32GB of RAM can do for you in gaming in 2014? Just wondering.

OT: Have a Macbook, so... no PC.

Edit: Is having that much RAM intended for future proof, or other aspects like video editing and what not?

I can only comment on real world performance. It just all depends on the specs/use/needs.

Google some stuff, though. It seems there are areas where DDR3 is faster/more efficient, even though DDR4 is, overall, better technology.

Yep, just googled a bit. Seems I will will be going with DDR3 after all for my next rig. Though I'm gonna get one with a very good ratio of speed to timings.

Still have some various things to do.

Gaming box

i7-4790k @ 5Ghz (CM 212+ Evo)
16GB DDR3-2400
980OC 4GB
Raid 840 Pro 256GB
2x2TB HDD Storage
27" 1440p IPS
Corsair 850W

HTPC / Drivebender

i7-4770K
16GB DDR3-2133
HD7950 3GB
256GB 840 Evo
12TB Drivebender Share
60" Plasma

Laptop i7M-U (one of the dual-core 'fake' i7s)
8GB DDR3-1600
128GB Plextor mSATA SSD
13.3" Screen
~2.5lbs

I never game or encode on laptops, so this works well as a lightweight one that is fast at regular tasks and still can last for 7ish hours.

I'd say the best money I've spent in that list was going for 2400 memory (pays off huge in some games, BF4 is one for sure), and the 980OC. I had the 7950 clocked higher than stock 7970 speeds (7950 = 280, 7970 = 280X), and it would still have screen tearing and performance issues at 1440p unless I really dialed the settings down. The 980OC was a gigantic upgrade, and much MUCH quieter. The 7950 is okay for 1080p though. The storm scout case and CM 212+ are both outstanding values as well, as I don't enjoy watercooling nor do I enjoy noise.

The worst money I've spent was adding a second 840 Pro for Raid. It made a difference, but not enough to make a huge difference. I am going to replace both of them with a single 850 Pro 1TB, and unraid the 840 Pros to stick in USB 3.0 enclosures for portable storage of decent speed. I also want to install 10gbe in the house to replace the gigabit network. I also wasted money on a HD 290X when it first launched and hated it. Loud, hot, and just an overall big disappointment. I happily went back to my 7950 until the 900 series launched.

Mines definitely the best on this site. You guys need to upgrade...

Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 @ 2.20GHz
4GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce G210M

You don't need 32GB of RAM in 2014 for gaming. You won't in 2015, 16, or 17 either.

I expect games AAA to have a reccomended RAM requirement at 16GB by 2018.
