With the recent push towards digital distribution, the software numbers from NPD, VGC, GFK or MVC are becoming less and less relevant.

To be fair, why would the ratio between 1st party and 3rd party be any different for digital?
OP nice find! This tells us what we already know though; 3rd party is what drives X1 and PS4 sales and Nintendo fans only buy Nintendo games. But Im a little surprised to see that X1 is selling more 1st party games than PS4; is it due to instal base lr something?

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
Only 11% 3rd party for Wii U was not expected, I knew sales where not good with 3rd party but 11% is a huge problem. They need to drastically change up tactics. yes Wii did great but when do you see the next innovation wowing people that much? It's just not likely.
My first priority if I was Nintendo would be to build up online, Interface and 3rd party support. They have great first party, also put in a damn achievement system. people are addicted to them, it promotes a games Replay value either way. If you don't think so, just look at True achievements or the many sites that focus on the achievement systems of Sony and MS. Sony didn't start with a trophy system but once they seen how much people like it, they intergraded pretty fast, smart move too.

Yeah, this info is still interesting, but it would be really nice to see how things are going digitally. I wonder just how much of a difference the 1st to 3rd party ratio would be, and just who is the king of digital sales so far?

Its due to how many of those first party games were given away / bundled.

I always wanted them to copy achievements from the 360 and have every game have 120 stars.
