Seeing as how it's conveniently blurred out, I'd have to say no. I wish this was true, though.

looks like a mobile device

Thanks for all the great memories!

Nope, this not the hardware redesign. I am hoping for Wii U/game pad in form of single tablet hybrid redesign . So the next gen console will be a normal console.

Blur can't change the way something looks so radically as in that picture. Nowhere close. Looks more like a Vita with the WiiU button layout in that screengrab.
BTW I find the current Gamepad the perfect shape and size and don't like the look of that thing in the picture at all. No need to make something you keep at home small if it hurts the ergonomics.

At first glance it does look like a different GamePad, but I highly doubt Nintendo would even do something like that!

They really need to reduce the size of the gamepad more than this so I hope its just an optical issue.
Nintendo do seem to be trying to push through stocks of the old basic model so perhaps they are planning some sort of revised model.
Surely by past history there will be a revised wii u soon.

I support a new design, but only that because the console already so great
Prediction: Nintendo Switch 2 sells 18 million until the end of 2025

it would have been nice with a redesign but other than making the gamepad smaller what can they do with the console itself? It looks great and compact as it is already.

I don't think the Wii U has done well enough that Nintendo would bother giving it a redesign, although I think a redesigned GamePad probably would help sales, the cost of doing so and the Wii U not being able to handle multiple ones are probably the main reasons we won't ever see one at least this generation.

What DrasticDracon said, old & nothing more than bad visual enhancement of the touch-screen in post-prod.
