WiiU did horrible, wtf?

Rumored numbers are:

XBone - `1,028,291
PS4 - 1,019,923

gap ~8368

That fits rather nicely with the known variables, i.e. PS4 + XBone is 80% higher than PS3 + X360 after 13 months giving the range something like 1.79M - 2.09M (Calculated by Road on neogaf).

That would also mean WiiU is overtracked, XBone is massively overtracked, and PS4 is just a tad overtracked.

Those numbers are fake.

fixed for proper scaling.

Also need to include that since NPD estimates part of their numbers, 10K is definitely within the margin of error.  If the 10K is true, then I think it's safe to just call it a draw.  Or a Sony win, if we throw profit into it.

Edit:  Nvm, just loading.  It's true, though.

Doesn't this practically say Nintendo made the most money this month?

Don't you mean Sony?

I think it will be close between nintendo and sony since ps4 sold amazing with pratically no pricecut

and amiibos sold like 700k in 2 weeks plus smash

itll be close

well tbone is right they did do 250k with just a game they barely even advertised
no price cut no new bundles no nonthing
so like tbone said maybe if they price drop it to $200 next holiday it will sell a lot better

This is kinda revising things, Mario Kart + Smash were supposed to give Wii U a large boost this holiday.

Price cut may help next year but it's becoming fairly clear the general market simply doesn't want this system in large numbers.

Don't you think if MSFT would have sold  1 million+ they would have talked about it.

So this is by far the worst tracking VGC has ever done right? I mean the XBO overtracked by at least 500k,WiiU overtracked by 140k, 3DS undertracked by 200k, only PS4 seems to be within the right margins. I hope ioi takes the time to look at these numbers and realize his methodology is badly in need of an overhaul. Impossible to defend tracking this bad.

Really? Link to the source please?

Oh scratch the 3DS number. Apparantly the post I read was talking about November 2013.

Not even close, we had systems (DS and Wii I believe) overtracked like 800k+

Im not going to say this is WiiU peak year, btf just because 2 of the biggest console franchise released this year doesn't warrant it is its peak. Nintendo didn't even try this holiday at all in terms of pushing HW and this is the result (just looking at US+Japan). I meana LoZ+Starfox next holiday with a huge price cut can swing things around. Also WiiU lineup next year looks way more solid than this years, as 2014 had 3 major games (500k+ sellers) vs next year which has potentially alot more :)

Did you seriously list Star Fox as a possible system-seller for next year? O.o

Frankly, I don't see Zelda doing much. Skyward Sword performed moderately at best given the popularity of the Wii and the franchise's own standard, plus A Link Between Worlds dropped off really quickly and its sales left so much to be desired, especially considering how acclaimed it was. I really think Animal Crossing is NIntendo's remaining only hope for a really big release.

At this rate, is wiiU even going to reach 15M units lifetime? I can't believe how badly it performed this November. Japan is down, Americas is almost flat and we have no clue about Europe (I'm talking about holiday sales of course). They might end up shipping only 2.2.-2.4m units this Q which would mean they would end up barely hitting their very low forecast. Given the release of smash and kart, I was expecting wiiU to smash that forecast and end up shipping something like 4-4.5m. I guess I was wrong.

And this year is probably it's peak year, meaning that next year will probably bring wiiU LTD sales to 12m units (?) and then they're probably going to barely reach 15M lifetime. Actually they're probably going to end up with 14m units sales lifetime seeing how badly the system is performing.

ninty didn't try because they knew they would be losing money if they did. There was no point in reeally pushing their system because they would not make back the money they'd spend on the advertising to do so. The mistakes have been made before the Wii U released and they are being smart. A bit like SOny and the Vita.
