Ellen does this every year, Nintendo has been giving away stuff on Ellen's show for like 8 years now. It's actually Oprah that started doing it first if I recall correctly.

Actually the oldest chat show in the world, the late late show and it's Christmas special, the late late toy show which only broadcasts in Ireland started it. Between it and Oprah there were dozens of others. 

 

I would be be exstatic to get a free wii u, but hey, I guess others here wouldn't. Saul goodman.
