Forums - Sony - Is Capcom close enough to Sony for MH5 Vita?

Capcom are sellouts.
Its a 1 in 3 chance it will be exclusive to either of the big 3.

Who knows... maybe MS reveal it as an exclusive to improve their sales in Japan.

I don't know why they would put it on the Vita. They already have a big enough audience on Nintendo platforms.

You should take a look at MHP3 to MH4. They lost over a milion customers.

Series fatigue does play into it, but it's not like the series is growing on Nintendo platforms.

it will be on sony hardware, sony android smartphones... mh5 coming to 3ds, ios and android(and ouya)

I think MH5 will be on the next Nintendo portable actually. MH4 Ultimate is probably the last one for 3DS.

Capcom is close to all three companies, they have Dead Rising with Microsoft, their Monster Hunter deal with Nintendo, and Street Fighter for Sony. Everyone gets some love.

Doubt it... I am pretty sure the 3ds's MH sales would want to make Capcom continue to earn that money instead of putting it on the Vita of all things. RE:R2 is multi-platform so I am guessing Sony made a deal with capcom to port it on the Vita. Not to say Sony can't do the same but with the SF:V console exclusivity and if they made MH5 exclusive as well, thats a hell of a lot of money which I highly doubt Sony wants to spend on the Vita alone

The monster hunter fanbase moved from PSP to 3DS pretty smoothly. So the only real question is whether the fanbase would be too pissed off at having to buy a Vita in order to play the next MH. If the fanbase is reasonably well disposed to following the franchise to a new platform then there's unlikely to be any sales lost by shifting.

RE: R2 is not that huge for PSV unfortunately, it will take something big like MH to substantially change PSV fortunes.

Well... That is a risk though that I doubt Capcom will ever take... One of the main reasons that the shift from the psp to the 3ds went to smoothly imo was cause the psp and 3ds were in different generations so its not like the 3ds was really competing against the psp since the psp's prime time was gone.  It is also a lot easier to get guaranteed sales on a platform with a large install base than a platform with a small install base and considering Capcom's greed, unless Sony is willing to guarantee payment any potencial lost sales (which they kinda did with SFV I believe), I highly doubt Capcom will bother at all and obviously Sony doesnt care enough about the Vita alone to do anything like that

Nope. I played MH4U at Paris Games Week and found it absolutely terrible.

Let me re-phrase that then:

Wow, you are really obsessed with the idea of MH on the PSV.

So many people who think Monster Hunter would be multiplat if not for that meddling Nintendo.

Capcom releases a new Monster Hunter every year, and it has never been multiplat. MH, MHG, and MH2 were not multiplat when they were on PS2. Portable, Portable 2nd, Portable 2nd G, Portable 3rd were not multiplat when they were on PSP. But Tri, 3G, 4, 4G come along and suddenly Capcom must be beholden to some deal they made to keep these exclusive.

Possible? Sure. But jumping to such conclusions is just blaming the boogeyman for things that have always been.

Anyway, @OT, I don't think Sony cares enough about the Vita to go to the trouble of doing that.

PS2 was the only relevant console for the first MonHuns. DS couldn't handle a 3D monster hunter, so PSP was the only handheld option.

By the time the series was huge, the PS3 version of Monster Hunter 3 was mysteriously cancelled and then a Wii version was announced. Since then, every MH has been Nintendo exclusive, despite not matching the PSP entries. That's why people think Nintendo had a hand in it.

Getting a lock on the MH series is the smartest thing Iwata has done in the last five years.

MH5 will be on next Nintendo handheld. End of story

Impossible. Capcom needs MH5 out earlier than that.

So, another 3Ds exclusive

THIS^

OT:  Why do you do this to yourself? You only want multiplat for 3ds third party exclusives XD (other way around though its not a smart move >_<)

It would sell much more on 3DS in the short term.

Its FW on 3ds outsells Lifetime for a vita version :p

(but multiplat would definitely increase sales, also cross play for all versions.... well if it were possible)
