I have zero. It doesn't really prove much.

Called it, Amiibo will be a big money maker for Nintendo.
There will be title built just for Amiibo next year, book it. Gotta keep that momentum going, little bonuses in things like Mario Party aren't enough.
Pretty sure Bloomberg mixed up dollars with yen though, that would make it 860,000 Amiibos sold or so which is a lot more realistic.

I beg to differ, nothing is average about me, not even when Amiibo is the subject!!! Excellence is all I tolerate!!!

Awesome. Amibos must be very profitable. Sony and MS should consider selling toys too, although they certainly wouldn't sell as well as Amibos.
Again, I will post this from page 5, as apparently most haven't seen it:
*tbone, you might want to update OP to reflect the inaccuracy that has been pointed out, since many ppl still think the "$1 billion sales" aim for amiibo is true*
If any of you doubt me, look at David Gibson's posts on Twitter that echo the following:
---
The $1 billion in sales from amiibo is an inaccuracy. In a recent Bloomberg article from November, Reggie is quoted as estimating that the entire "toys-to-life" category, including Skylanders, Amiibo, and Disney Infinity, could generate as much as $1 billion in revenue.
The article in the OP is inaccurate.
Here is the link from a prior article, where the proper context of the "$1 billion" quote originated from:
"Super Smash Bros. is the first Nintendo title that will also support Amiibo, the interactive figurines that the company is also introducing for the holidays. Amiibo will compete with Activision’s Skylanders franchise and Walt Disney Co.’s Infinity in a category Nintendo calls “toys-to-life.”
Such interactive toys are set to pull in about $1 billion in sales this year in the U.S., according to Fils-Aimes. The ability to use Nintendo’s figurines in multiple games may draw fans to the $12.99 Amiibo figures, which will later be brought to the 3DS handheld console, he said."

Like Screamapillar said - the article's wrong. Reggie talked about the entire 'smart toys' business, including Skylanders and Disney Infinity, across all platforms, when mentioning that $1 billion figure.
Amiibo's just a part of that.
Nintendo Network ID: Cheebee 3DS Code: 2320 - 6113 - 9046

Although these are estimates, I see Nintendo doing really well this holiday. If only they had a mobile division.
