Forums - Gaming - 2015 could be the best year in fighting game history

Your most anticipated fighting game?

Street Fighter V 40 32.00%

Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 13 10.40%

Tekken 7 36 28.80%

Mortal Kombat X 36 28.80%

Total:125

You forgot the yearly Naruto fighting games. Gotta say,I feel bit of a hypocrite for criticizing yearly installments and then buying Naruto every September. Oh well, still my favourite fighting franchise, though I consider Tekken the better one. Never got into Street fighter.

Youngsters. Have no memories of the days when we got Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Virtua Fighter, Samurai Shodown, King of Fighters, Fighter's History, Art of Fighting, World Heroes, Soul Blade, Tekken, Bushido Blade, Eternal Champions, etc. on a monthly basis.

A few sequels in a year and suddenly, it's the best ever.

Let's be even more clear, this is what we got for the year 1994 :

Killer Instinct 1, Tekken 1, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Dark Stalkers, The King Of Fighters 1, Primal Rage, Samurai Shodown II, Virtua Fighter 2, Art of Fighting 2, Fatal Fury special, X-Men COTA. That's for arcade, and not to count the ports on console this year (samurai shodown, MK2, World Heroes 2, etc.), at least 10 other games.

Soul Calibur is my favorite, not having it I'd choose DOA.

You forgot the best of the best fighting games " Guilty Gear Xrd "

It releases this December.

Well then, 2014 beats out 2015, thanks to Guilty Gear Xrd, Smash Bros 3DS, Smash Bros U, and others.

Actually, I have no particular opinion on which year is better. I do agree with a few above me, though, by saying that there were undoubtedly better years in the past, where a multitude of fighting games across a broad variety of IPs were released, with many of them still being fondly remembered.

Sadly with the death of arcades, Sega and SNK especially slowing down, those days are long gone. But with all things considered 2015 looks to be pretty grand. All we are missing from the big fighters right now I think is King of Fighters, Soulcalibur and Virtua Fighter.

Go PS All Stars 2!

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

I would love me some Soul Calibur but from the list I would go with Tekken 7

I like Mortal Combat the most on that list followed by Doa for... reasons... My favorite is still smash bros though

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Only one that really interests me is Dragon Ball, got bored of MK and won't be touching GG Xrd until it touches PC or other platforms and I don't see why I should bother with SF since Capcom pulled recent crap making a multiplat exclusive and even then they are known for making ridiculous versions and charging them full price.

Not really a great year for fighters if you ask me.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

How old are you? I am 22 years old myself, so not that much of a youngster as you make it out to be.

As for all you stated, I only became a GAMER in 2009, so obviously I won't know about that.
