Meh o dont mind the wait Nintendo is already making starfox and zelda im expecting metriod in 2016

That's the point.  It's not quite there yet, but it seems people want it to be.  Last Metroid came out about 4 years ago, and before that they had finished up the PRime Trilogy, with a number of handheld games.

You don't need to release a new game every year or even every 3 or 4 years.  Sometimes you need to give it a break, and come back to it later.

I'm sure they'll release one sooner or later.

Yep like others have said, just a few months ago it was confirmed that they were working on a 2D & a 3D Metroid. Also 2016 is the 30th anniversary for Metroid so I think it's completely possible we see both of those titles release in 2016, sorta like the way Metroid Fusion & Metroid Prime had a dual release back in 2002.

It's never been a huge seller. I bet Retro are currently working on one though. Hard to say whether its for the Wii U or 3DS though. I'm guessing Wii U. Either would be welcome though. A 2D metroid for the 3DS would be certainly welcome.

That sure was quite a mature of you... You'd be surprised about the age of teens buying GTA vs, the age of adults buying Pokemon.

Metroid V (likely on N3DS) will be announce in the E3 2015, launching it for 30th anniversary of the series in 2016.

And we'll get another side series (Metroid Prime IV) on Wii U, after the main numbered game comes out.

Granted N64 did sell more than GameCube, but by 200 the N64 was dead, and this was the second Zelda entry. Metroid came back to GameCube after almost a decade hiatus from consoles.

Compared to the other entries they have released, no, it doesn't sell as well. I don't think it's abandoned, they are just putting other stuff, bigger stuff, before it.
