Forums - Nintendo - Tons of new Zelda U shown at Game Awards! What did you think?

Some areas the graphics didn't look quite as impressive as the reveal but who cares?

OPENWORLD ZELDA HYPE!

Around the Network

Mostly been following the Gaf thread where they say the world seems bland.

So, out of 4 minutes or so of footage, we see wild horses, enemies, and different locales which they didn't stop at. It was just horse traversal to show how big the world is. People seem to have forgotten the enemy in the first trailer that hunts you down basically in the overworld, and the goats and such there.

So I guess if you ignore the ambient life and the enemies, and the locales not visited, the world would seem empty.

Also it boggles my mind, not even one person thus far in a 30 page long thread there ever thought it could be an OoT situation where enemies mostly show up at night in the overworld.

People should keep in mind this is the WiiU. I have no idea why people keep comparing this to something like Witcher 3, although funnily enough when PS4/XBO games are compared to PC games, it's suddenly unfair.

I think it's waaay too early to say that the world is bland! For now, I think we should just be happy that Zelda U is not linear like Skyward Sword!

The world seems to be very small compared to Xenoblade or Skyrim, especially since you cannot zoom out more on the map. The most important thing is that the game does not look as childish as A Link between Worlds so far.

You could zoom out more.  Where Miyamoto stopped zooming out, Aonuma said you could zoom out even more.  Besides, no point in having big expanses of pointless terrain.  So it really depends on what happens in that terrain they have already.

Why is he not in his tunic!?

Tunic is overrated, new outfit looks much better (Im sure the tunic will appear eventually)

Loving the slow mo shooting when you jump off of Epona's back. The Bow is the greatest weapon imo and most games dont use it all that well. Hoping Zelda U has maybe some places where I can just pick enemies off from afar.

I strongly disagree that looks lame. Looks like link has a mullet. Yea it would be strange if the tunic did not show up. I thought they would show it though.

People acting as though they've seen the finished game and either dismissing or confirming this as the worst/best thing ever is a huge shame. This is prototype footage of a game that will be in development for another 10 months at least. Do Nintendo make a habit of releasing unpolished games? No. This didn't even look to be a build that Nintendo would let the press play. it was a very deliberately limited sample of what to expect in the next Zelda.

I'm optimistic about this. There's obvious room for improvement, but what would you expect a year away from release?

How big is this game?

Well, considering the time Anouma said that would take to reach the Tower, the map distance of the to the tower, and the time he had rided the horse until given time. I did some calculations:

And that is by horse.

Eh... I don't think that was what they should have shown. Given the event, I think a trailer highlighting key moments would have been better. Seeing the world map is neat, but they should have kept it short and sweet.
