Forums - Nintendo - Tekken on Wii U- Why did no one buy it?

Tagged games:

It's a decent game. People need to stop asking why third party X/Y/Z doesn't sell on a Nintendo console ... no one buys a Nintendo console for third party games and haven't for like 10 years.

Sony/MS completely monopolized that portion of the audience. Accept it and move on.

I own Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U edition its a great 3d fighter. it didnt sell well because of 2 likely reasons. 1.when the Wii U came out (thus is a launch game) consumers were treating it like the Wii. nowadays though, gamers are the ones that own a WiiU and buy games. but its probably difficult to find it in stores, so they probably just download it from the eShop. 2. 3d fighters arent selling right now. even if you look at the sales of that game on ps360 you'll see that sales arent that great. its well worth your money imo

I own Tekken tag 2 on my Wii U, and i can say it is the definitive version, its an incredible fighting game. It has tons of modes, characters, decent online, off tv, touchscreen moves and some fun Nintendo skins and items. Its not had the greatest of sales, but not many fighters outside of Smash Bros and Street fighter do these days. May i also add that if anybody looking for another decent fighter for Wii U, Injustice gods among us is a very good game too, and very cheap these days.

The lack of fanbase was probably the reason OP.

Tekken tag 2 as far as i know was the first tekken to be released on a nintendo console.

It's the kind of franchise that screams "playstation" for historical reasons. In other words,if you like tekken, chances are you have a PS console to play it.Plus,it's a third party game which usually don't do very well on WiiU.

Aware of the above and yet here we are. I've owned a ps1,2 and 3 and I'm looking for a tekken game on my wii u. I also owned a wii. GameCube and a spate of saga consoles years back. The reason third parties don't sell on wii u is because people and the media keep saying they don't sell.

So for cheap, it's worth a purchase?

There were reports of severe frame rate issues with that game. Framerate is very important for fighting games for obvious reasons. I don't know if the issues were fixed, but it put off some folks. Tekken is the game I play the most. By far.

The framerate is rock solid on Tekken tag 2, ive never had any issues and im very fussy about framerates in fighting games. There was an update with my download, so maybe it got fixed? anyways it looks and plays great.

Snap it up mate, there are tons of hours you can put into this game, and it can be found real cheap if you look hard enough.
