As someone who never played a DA game, would this be a good place to jump in?

Yes, because of the Dragon Age Keep - it's something that allows you to customize what happens in Dragon Age 1 and 2, so you don't have to play through both games. The site has a nifty feature that tells you the whole story just as you wanted it (hero dies in DA1 or not? Up to you. hero romances x character in DA2? Up to you)

Nope, it's properly handled. Trust me.

Prior to this game, I had a computer with an i5 and GTX760 in it. I could only handle high settings. The game forced me to upgrade on the spot so I can see the max settings. Boy, the difference is awesome. I get 0 framerate drops (60 at all times), a whole lot more particle effects and better textures across the board.

Trust me, if you want to see the real Dragon Age, go for PC. It'll kick your PC's ass though, if it isn't strong enough.

Thanks, will definitely look into it. But honestly I don't care that much for the technical side. I do spot every issue though. Identity crisis I guess

I'm very curious about this game. Does this game play like Skyrim or Demon Souls?

Neither? Skyrim and Demon Souls might actually be more comparable to each other in this case. I think if you had to pick Skyrim?

@Acevil

What about Dragon Dogma? anyway thanks for the response, I'm gonna try to look for some gameplay.

@Classicgamingwizz

thanks, I'm looking for gameplay right now to see how it plays. It looks good for what I have seen so far.

I bought this on Black Friday but haven't had a chance to play it yet, but it looks REALLY good and I can't wait until I get around to it!

I've got to ask though... I've only played Dragon Age: Origins, and not Dragon Age II, is there any part of the story or any references made to the second game, that I won't understand if I haven't played it? ...without any spoilers if possible.

There are a few, but everything is explained through optional dialogues, so it's all right.

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

@OP: gameplay, difficulty, massive world, replay value... OK, there's more than enough for me, I'll add it to my wishlist, although I won't buy it now, too many games in my backlog (alas the games database for the games section of VGC user profiles hasn't been updated for months, I found it nice and useful too, to keep track of good games that got little marketing and hype).

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")
A fart without stink is like a sky without stars.
TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

Its so good I bought the game twice (one copy for a friend) at full price. That's never happened before >_>

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

sorry to bother you again but ... its the last time.
Cons:
1-Below average graphics (technically) with some issues and noticeable bugs. dark souls have it
2-The lack of day-night cycle and dynamic weather systems. such features are important for games that aims to make the world as immersive as possible like Dragon Age. like dark souls
3-Battle system that doesn't evolve, no need to adapt to different kinds of enemies, lack of need for planning. The best thing to do is always using the strongest ability available. + Magic barrier.   battle system is dark souls is amazing but you are saying this to dragon age and i could no disagree more.
4-Big delay in taking or causing damage when a lot of things happens at once.  i dont even know what you talking about on this one

5- imprecise hit boxes, getting damage even when you are away from enemies. huge problem in dark souls and in the multiplayer is disgusting.
6- Story telling. One example (You start in a middle of explosion and then... "I'll do what I can to save the world"..) I need to care about the world first then I'll care about saving it.  do i need to compare ? guy wakes up in the dungeon ... go save the world, you need to dig deep to get the story in dark souls
7- Fragmented story, accessible only through war table, which kills the sense of progress and having a true deep adventure. You go on a misson you go to your castle but that is bad? ok , i guess you prefer a linear rpg like finalfantasy

double standarts much? i just wanted to understand but to me seems you have problems in dragon age that dont bother you in dark souls , i love both games, but i love them for what they are, they are very diferent, i guess you prefer way better the dark souls type.

No bothering at all, I'm enjoying this actually.

1- True, that is one of reasons DS is not perfect in my book.

2- In DS you spend about half of the adventure if not more in closed and dark environments. The rest of your time spent under the sky is actually brief knowing that DS has a linear-ish design philosophy. The areas in DS are relatively small but connected together. You keep progressing from area to another and they have different designs. Unlike Dragon Age where the maps are huge and explorable. You spend most of the time in an area that, after a little while, feels not as immersive as it used to be, less alive due the never-changing surroundings.

3- I don't want it to be Dark Souls, the thing is I used one method and it never failed me. Switch to mage and use the barrier on the other characters, then switch back and use the strongest ability available... Repeat untill you win. It lacks depth, and it gets repetitive as it doesn't requires you to adapt to different situations. Try it, it will work every time even on harder difficulty.

4- A small bug, I attack an enemy but he doesn't take damage untill a second latter,  and vise versa. Adds to the lack of fluidity point.

5- Indeed.

6- Very different philosophies of story telling, let me just use Miyazaki words to explain. "The greatest tool for narrative is the world you create for it to exist in. The narrative of your game should not be held captive by its cutscenes. A well designed world could tell its story in silence." Dark Souls story is told in silence indeed, you could feel the despair by walking around. Dark Souls in never about saving the world by the way. It is about finding your personal hope in a cruel world.

7- It has nothing to do with being linear or open world. In DA method you go to the map, there is a text that summarize the mission, accept and you are transport in the middle of action with no real introduction to the conflict. That hurts the flow of story and the interaction with the world of the game. To travel through the world gives you the opportunity to understand the backstory through Npcs and the art direction of the place, especially when npcs are usually part of the conflict. All that makes you understand the purpose of your action better. A text is not gonna cut it. Lazy method if you ask me, seriously hurts the motivation.

Not true, I appreciate the variety in games, I don't criticize something for being different but for being flawed. DA is still a good game overall imo.
