I think listening to the chatter online can be demoralizing for anyone, so I imagine it goes largely ignored by professionals.

I'm already a masochist so on my journey to Developership it'll actually act as fuel.
That being said, it depends on the temperament of the developers.
In this day and age, with the Internet, ignorance is a choice! And they're still choosing Ignorance! - Dr. Filthy Frank

A lot of hard work goes into making these games. So you can only imagine the frustration and demoralizing feeling a dev gets when they look on the Internet to see thousands of people shitting all over their hard work. Look I understand that their line of work is entertainment so theres bound to be people who dont like your product. But theres a line between constructive criticism and downright hate. Look at games like Titanfall, Destiny or even Watch Dogs. Yes those games were not as good as they could of been but they weren't absolute garbage. Imagine that youre a game dev and you look at feedback from your game only see "This is the worst shit ever they should die for making this" or "Fuck this game and fuck the developers for making this horseshit" I know if I was seeing that constantly 24/7 and not constructive feedback id quit too. Do you think the internet gaming community is killing the morale of game designers? |
They do not care what few on internet says.. They can be fanboys, hatters or so..
The internet "forum gammers" is a very very litle part of the hole marked an they know they will always complaine (And why not mention the ones who make some of the higest rated games, and allways get a lot of "hate.. Nintendo?)
2000+ gamer trolls, dosent matter one bit.. PR and commercials do
Buttom line is.. they look at the buttom line..

Edit: offcourse i know why you not include Nintendo.. smart :) (just to mention nintendo, gives a shit storm in this forum)

Industry made by criticism, they selling product to consumer, if people don't like then they will not buy. And they should be happy we still care with their product by giving some input.
I live and and worked in Hospitality Industry so input like comment, " complain " and request is actually help you better and know what costumer needs and wants.
the same goes with every industry, including video games Industry. Constructive or not is a risk in every job and thats why you can train your mental in real life.
