Forums - Sales - Why would PS4 win December NPD?

I've seen this a lot in the recent week. While it's pretty much clear that X1 has November NPD in the bag, people are already pretty much assuming that PS4 will definitely win December NPD. On what basis exactly? What changes in December as opposed to November? X1 is currently in beast mode and I don't see a reason why that would suddenly turn into favor for PS4.

The ACU bundle is still widely available, on Amazon it even got back to its BF price of $329 where it is currentl selling like hotcakes. On PS4 side we have both BF bundles out of stock everywhere, the Destiny only for its old price above $400. The only thing that's available is the Vanilla PS4 for standard price.

Sure that situation may change but for that Sony has to ship a whole bunch of units while MS's supply chain has to break. But even if Sony manages to ship more, the X1 still has the ability to outsell it either way, like we've seen throughout November.

The only hope I'm seeing here for Sony to win December NPD is huge shipments, more deals and big revelations at PSX.

I don't see it winning December NPD. Price is just such a big factor. Especially since none of them in the USA is dominating.

Only way would be if Sony have some huge games announcements at PSX that will also be gathered by the mass media and not only gamers.

All of which are likely to happen, or are currently happening.

Let's hope for the best. I remember times where PS4 didn't need any of those things to outsell X1.

It still doesn't. None of these are retaliatory measures. They have huge shipments because they are ramping up for the holiday shopping season, partnership deals with developers is a common thing, and the supposed big revelations to be made at PSX were probably in the works before MS announced all the crazy-cheap X1 deals for the holidays.

Well being as everything the xbone had going for it and it only squeaked a win on black Friday according to preliminaries, I think the PS4 has a good chance to win December NPD.

Huh? According to VGC X1 won every single week in November by a comfortable margin.

Please elaborate on what happens in December to reverse that trend.

Don't see ps4 winning either

If it didn't win November I doubt it'll win December, though I'm out of touch and am unsure how things are trending :)

Thats easily explained. The xbone was still riding high on the back of the price cut. Halo collection released. Exclusive xbox COD Edition console released. Sunset overdirve release with white console. Really cheap black friday deals. All these things happened on back to back weeks. Thats without mentioning the double game assassin's creed bundle.

The week before back friday the PS4 was only 25k behind the xbone. So it was catching up with it. Without the black friday deals December should go to the PS4.
