Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rating your systems for 2014

This thread is to reflect back on 2014 and grade the systems you own.

-----------------

Sony PlayStation 3 - After 2013 was an amazing A+ banner year for the system, it cooled off as the generation wound down.  Still, many great games came out with Tales of Xilla 2, South Park, Child of Light, and Dark Souls II being highlights. It also managed to have many cross titles with PSV and PS4 to keep it relevant.

Grade  B

------------------

Sony PlayStation Vita - While the market has condemned the Vita to obscurity in the west, for me this was the banner year for the handheld and my most played system by far of 2014. Dangan Ronpa, Shinovi Versus, and Demon's Gaze were all great fun.  Added to this were several cross PS3 titles.  May not be for everyone, but I am loving my Vita.

Grade  A+

------------------

Sony PlayStation 4 - The ramp up is still going on with many games being cross gen titles (although I enjoyed Diablo III and Dynasty Warriors 8 a great deal), but the stand outs like Infamous showed the systems potential.  Overall, a solid year that really sets up 2015 in many respects for the system to show off what it can do.

Grade  B

------------------

Nintendo 3DS - 2013 was insane for the 3DS (easy A+) and 2014 felt like a major hang over year for the system to me.  I enjoy Pokemon, but X/Y interested me way more than the remakes.  It wasn't terrible, but I got spoiled last year and actually found the system untouched for weeks this year.  Hoping 2015 sees it spring back.

Grade  C-

-----------------------

The Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox 360 were left off because I did not play on them this year and felt unfair to grade them in same way wouldn't really grade my Genesis or Gameboy.  Also, I do not own the Nintendo Wii U and Microsoft Xbox One so "N/A" for now.

WiiU B+: Out of all the games that came out that were published by Nintendo, none of them were disappointing and all of them worked at launch! Mk8, SSB, DK:TF and Bayonetta 2 exceeded my expectations! My only gripe was that the first half of the year had a lovely (not) draught before we really got into the good stuff which was worth the wait!

3ds: B-: Overall, the year has been pretty meh compared to 2013 but with games coming out like Persona Q, Smash Bros, Kirby Triple Deluxe, Fantasy Life and many others, it should continue to be good! (And I some will hopefully buy during Christmas)

PC: B+: Lots of lovely games came out for PC this year including Valkyria Chronicles which is an awesome jrpg!

Ps3: C: Nothing really came out of too much interest that couldn't be found on PC so eh.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

All A+, As I own them, making them all awesome by association.

Xbox One- A+
3DS- A
PS4- B

3DS XL Grade A
This year was pretty good for my lil thing. I managed to get 2 free eshop games from Nintendo, and out of retail I got the phenomenal story-driven Kid icarus Uprising with much replayability, and the handheld Smash Bros. It's my first in the series, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I see myself going back to it for free Mewtwo DLC and summer holidays.

The Hanafuda theme I got fits so well with the gold & black design of the console.

Wii U. Grade A*.
4 months. 6 Games. 1 accessory. (soon 2.)

The system is great, but there's a few things I don't like about the hardware and os, nothing major, just little nuisances. Like, why can't I have the menu on TV and control it by using gamepad? Instead I control the Miiverse Plaza on Gamepad.

MK8 - Amazing racer, but I think I'm experiencing franchise fatigue. Played too much of the last 4 MK's.
Bayonetta 1 - Powerful. Epic. Deep story that is awesome, hardly makes sense (good thing) and the cutscenes and general gameplay is a joy.
Bayonetta 2 - Same but slightly better! And definitely more gorgeous.
Smash Bros U : I love the amiibo and 8 player smash. Online is very smooth and there is plenty of modes.
Hyrule Warriors - I'm a fan of the genre, and a fan of Zelda. I was surprised how much content it has(and that's without DLC), and how much intresting the cutscenes and main story was!
Assassins Creed Black Flag: Not a fan of those futiristic parts, but the pirate world is fantastic. The gameplay is fluid, but I haven't reached far at all.

Amiibo: Best. Thing. Ever. So fun to watch Luka(Link) level up in Smash, and he can be used in HW + MK! I love free goodies.

PC: N/A. Haven't bought a new PC game in years. But my new laptop is great.

Ps4. C
Wii u. B-
Psvita. B-
360. F
Ps3. B+

Wii U: A-
Most played system of the year for me. Great line-up of games this year, from DK to Captain Toad! So far, nothing was disappointing!

3DS: B-
Could of been a little better. Though, releases such as Kirby: TD and Smash 3DS, saved it from being totally disappointing.

XBOX 360: N/A
Stolen :(

PC: B+
Played a few great indies this year!

Is anybody?

I'm surprised they still put them in the game.

IKR? I came into my first AC expecting a pirate world, and all I get is me living someone's memory or something. It breaks the immersion of the pirate world completely.  I will play it properly once I'm done with Bayonetta 2.
