Forums - Sales - ioi's preliminary Black Friday week estimates (W.E 29th Nov)

Poor performance for wiiU. It's merely up 40% over last year's already very low number. I was expecting a much better black friday this year with Smash bros and MK8 but oh well.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

Really nice to see consoles sales so healthy, that would shut up the doom mongers thinking cell phones is the future of home gaming

Yeah, I've never really understood this position.  Just because a shitload more people play tiny games on cell phones, doesn't mean there isn't still a pretty massive segment of the populace who want a standalone console in their home.

Let's see how far way I will be : PS4: 1.2M, XOne: 1M

As I say, these are only early numbers and I'm being quite conservative on Nintendo stuff with our scaling factors this year as we were quite high over the holidays in 2013.

Some sources (if their patterns held true across others) could put Wii U closer to 300k and 3DS closer to 400-500k so we will see. As I say, Black Friday is by far the hardest week of the year to estimate for as each data source is showing totally different sales patterns and you need a view of all them all to get the full picture. The more data that comes in the more we can refine until we arrive at a final estimate.

Hey ioi I just wanted to say thank you and all the crew of vgc for your hard work, love the site.

I'd like to know whch retailers you base your estimates on and if it includes online retailers as well.

It would also be nice to know if past trends have any effect on your predictions and if so what are the past trends on which you base your PS4 and XB1 sales on (as there is nothing to compare it to directly since its their first true BF week).

Agreed.  Thank you ioi.

Rock solid sales all around if true.

11 Million by the end of the year might be a reality for the One if this is close to reality.

And my god those numbers are just big.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

Interesting. I can't wait to see the final estimates. 300k for wiiU would definetly be a much better performance then 200k (a 100%+ increase YoY). I also hope that we'll get some kind of PR statement from Nintendo soon enough about their BF performance.
