Forums - Sales - Super Smash Bros WiiU did ~35k (between 32k and 43k) first week in UK

No one should be surprised; Smash was always a lot smaller in Europe than in Japan and the US. If it manages 70-90k FW in Europe; that's actually decent considering the installed base and the lack of interest in this series in this region, relative to US and Japan.

Quite a poor performance given the insane level of hype here and there... the legendary GOTY being flattened by sequels/ports/rushed games etc. is just hilarious

Your Hate knows no bounds. GOTY has nothing to do with sales. Unless COD wins every year?

I never said that great sales = GOTY. I merely pointed out that a GOTY contender (like the entire press/community is saying Smash is) should logically attract a little more people, unless it's just overhyped for some reason.

No, your talking about 1 region, even the mighty SSBB sold 78k in the UK FW and that was on the Wii. Should we call TLoU (GoTY) having terrible sales in Japan? Again 1 region. SSB 3DS did 50k, SSBU did between 32k-42k FW in UK.

Also Fighting Genre is Niche apparently now and SSB isnt big in Europe in General, especially more in the UK.

Can't deny that. Let's see how it performs in continental Europe.

Its a shame but its expected. UK is a very anti Nintendo region. Not as bad as Xbox in Japan, but it isn't that far off. The funny thing is that the UK gets the best Wii U bundles and most would kill for those bundles in other regions.

Tbf, Smash has never been that big in the EU. Still low low low sales. Should be hitting a lot higher. How much did Smash 3DS do in comparison?

How many days did smash released before this chart came up?

Pocky Lover Boy!

In Germany it's almost sold out in most retail shops in different citys around the country. Asked a few online friends from other towns, there are nearly no copies left. Only gamespot has Smash copies, but they are 10€ more expensive than normal retailers.
Question is: Small shipment or high sells?

This is actually MORE than I expected it to sell in the UK.

Since 3DS version launch, I knew SMASH BROS IS PRACTICALLY DEAD in Europe and I don't understand why.

UK only cares about Fifa .

Except we have plenty of different games above Smash, so no they don't only care about FIFA

Smash Brothers is not even half as popular as Mario Kart is, so this is not too surprising. Mario Kart is usually in a league of its own when it comes to sales, though may be a lot less on the Wii U.

Smash sold more than MK on Gamecube, Nintendo's last non-blue ocean console. Last gen there was a massive difference due to Wii's popularity among "casuals" and due to heavy bundling as well (which Smash did not get).
