Forums - Sales - Selling in Europe is better than in US ?

i can only compare to the us/eu psn.
for a vita game i save ~$10 each game
ps3 is ~$15
ps4 is ~$30 in savings ...

all these prices are with tax included. so buying of from the us psn was a big saving for me.

I haven't touched a ms console in a while so no games bought and for nintendo games ... region lock ftl

Selling in Europe is a better general indicator of quality. They're smarter consumers, on average.

That's why it is better, really. It's an indicator that the product is good. That higher price tag covers taxes (which are IN the price in Europe), import fees, European operating costs (more languages, more countries), etc. I doubt the games are much more profitable per sale, if at all.

Lol, sniper games say different, also fifa games over pes.

To be fair, Pro Evo is worthless to a lot of people because it hasn't got the licenses which is a big pull of FIFA.

As for the price difference. As well as taxes etc. Distribution is much more complex in Europe. Then they also need to price in a buffer against currency fluctuations. Yes, $60 might be less then e60 today, but if the Euro went into meltdown, 60 euros could suddenly only become worth $30 (extreme example) but these are the kinds of things that are factored in when determing the retail of things.

and if the dollar went into meltdown you would be way better of with euros. the euro is stronger than the dollar for 12 years now...

However, most companies use the dollar as their currency, so fluctuations in the dollar don't affect them in the way the Euro/GBP etc do.

Remember how Sony and Nintendo's profits were badly hit when the yen was so strong? It was because all their overseas sales were bringing in far less than they otherwise would have done. MS were immune to it however.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I know selling in Japan is better for some companies, some AAA games there can cost the equivalent of 80 ~ 100 dollars, life FFs and Dragon Quest.
I think distribution isnt that much a bigger cost in Europe, it must be like the USA, wich is a country many times bigger than the entire European Continent.
And costs with translation are fixed, once they`re paid everything that comes in is pure profit.

Just consider aaa releases costs 70 eur in europe , while The same game costs 60 dollars in US. And euro being stronger than dollar males me wonder that games in europe are more profit per copy than in usa .

The US prices are before tax.  The EU prices are after VAT has been added.  When you subtract the VAT out of the European prices, then adjust for exchange rate, the price is pretty close.    There is also a higher cost due to regulatory and language issues in Europe compared to the USA.

70€ - 20% tax on avg = 58.33€ = $72.53

meanwhile with tax:
70€ = $87.01 on the eu psn
same game on the us psn = $60 WITH tax (0% thanks to delaware, montana, oregon, new hampshire or alaska) at least I havent have to pay any tax up to date on the us psn.
saving ~ $30 and thats with the euro on a very low exchange rate.

but still even if you have to pay tax you have to pay at least $12.50 less in the us.
and most localizations are cover and manual if you are lucky. game is most of the time english only.

but I don't really care, because i just buy my games on the us psn so it doesnt affect me even if the games were 100€ here
