Umm no, we have Smash Bros. 4
I agree, 2014 is in no way a horrible year in gaming. I just think that people were expecting a bit more from the new generation of consoles, but lets all be real. What can we expect from a €400 console?

I'm on the PS4 and PS3 so can only speak on there behalf personally. On PS3 got a few games like The walking dead season 1&2 plus the wolf among us. On PS4 I got a shit load of good games. Infamous second son, the last of us remastered, wofenstein, GTA 5, Far Cry 4, fifa 15, driveclub (online still broken but it's a very good offline game), watchdogs, infamous first light, metro redux, ground zeroes. Plenty of other top games like dragon age came out that i won't be getting. Bottom line a solid first year for playstation and roll on next year. much better stat than ps3 anyway and we all seen how well that went. |
Thanks to remind me ground zero. It's a game that I want with KZ and uncharted the day I'm getting a Ps4

it was a rip off for most at release. I actually played it enough to get value for my money but by the time you get it, it will be a lot cheaper and fair value. It's basically just a taste of GTA 5. Like the Tanker mission in MGS2.
2014 was a bad year. Other than MK8 and Smash Bros. there was nothing that good. AC Unity and the master chief collection had the potential to be great but the developers of both those games messed up.
2014 was a solid, but unremarkable year. AC: Unity, Watch Dogs, and to a lesser extent Destiny are probably all warning shockwaves that the AAA game market is about to crash, but for the moment it's business as usual.

Final Fantasy XIII-2, Resident Evil Revelations, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Pokepark 2, Mass Effect 3, Total War: Shogun 2, Warriors Orochi 3, Devil May Cry HD Collection, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Witcher 2 (X360), The Walking Dead, Diablo III, Max Payne 3, Dragon's Dogma, Gravity Rush, Pokemon Conquest, Spec Ops: The Line, The Last Story Sleeping Dogs, Borderlands 2, FIFA 13, Resident Evil 6, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Forza Horizon, Assassin's Creed 3, ZOE HD Collection, Halo 4, Lego LOTR, ZombiU, Persona 4 Golden, Far Cry 3 + others Looks like one of the best years EVER to me... |
Reading this list, yes, it was really that bad. Jesus, you put FIFA in there. Lego LOTR? How can you use annual releases to compare one year to its neighbors?
Xenoblade was only released in 2012 in the US. It was 2010 in Japan and 2011 in Europe. And there are a lot of remakes/rereleases in there.

| Ka-pi96 said: Yeah, course I put FIFA in there. It was one of the best FIFA games there's been! Xenoblade still released somewhere in 2012 so... Do remakes/rereleased not count as games anymore? Can they not be played and enjoyed by people? Same for annual releases? |
There are remakes and rereleases every year. You know what else count as games and can be played and enjoyed by people? Games released last year or the year before.
I would allow something like Persona 4 Golden, a complete remake with new content. But the Witcher 3 on 360 or DMC/ZOE HD Collections? No, no. Come on now. If the best a year can do is say, "Hey, remember all these great games that released in better years???" then it has a problem.
Annual releases are just so irrelevant when comparing multiple years. What makes FIFA 13 better than FIFA 11, FIFA 12, FIFA 14, and FIFA 15? What makes Assassin's Creed 3 better than the other AC games -- hell, I remember it getting somewhat lukewarm reception, at least compared to Black Flag and the Ezio games. There are like 3 Lego games released every year, what makes LOTR exceptional?
And that's the problem. Most of the games you named are not exceptional, they are just okay or good games released that year. But there are dozens of decent games released every year.
