Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Persona Q Reviews! Metascore 87 [19 Reviews] Another GoTY Contender?

Ninsect said:

Oh, so more conditions to fit your agenda. Okay, let's remove Left Behind and Shadowrun. That still puts Persona in 12th. How many reviews does a game need for your list? Persona Q only has 11 and Smash only 15. Is the cut-off 5 reviews?

I want to know how you counted it in 5th place.

Off topic but how did you get your original list?? Meta currently has PQ at 73 for the year, although it has dropped 2 points since tbone made his statement

Mega Atlus fans probably. Kind of like how Hyrule Warriors sold half a million copies by targeting Warriors and Zelda fans, this game will get Persona and Etrian Odyssey fans. It'll be lucky to get half a million though, even on a userbase approaching 50 million.

Except it only really targeted Zelda fans. Theirs like roughly 50k Musou fans tops on WiiU. Musou fans are all on PS consoles.

Except that's what they said about Monster Hunter, and it stopped nothing. There aren't all that many Musou fans to begin with, though, so really any Musou game that includes another IP is really mostly targeting the IP, not Musou.

So nearly all the high scorers are major games on Nintendo platforms. I find that very strange to say the least.

Is it strange that Nintendo has been making high quality games? That Atlus (this game) made a great rated game? Even Platinum Made a top 3 highest rated game?

Pls dont tell me your thinking that Nintendo paid off reviewers, cuz your comment seems to point at it. :0

According to this post:

It's the Vita getting all the fanboy/paid off reviews. Reviews don't suit my argument, must be bias!

OT: Bring it! first 3DS game I've been excited about in a good while. Persona 4 was amazing, I can't wait to see more stuff in this universe! :D

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Yep no of course, comparing MonHun changing consoles and its fans following to Musou fans buying a WiiU and Hyrule Warriors because they love the Musou series makes perfect fucking sense.

And to say their isnt many Musou fans is fucking laughable, if their wasnt Musou fans they wouldnt still be making the series main games in Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and Warriors Orochi which by the way are the higher selling games then the IP stickered versions.

Hardly a contender, but I game I look forward to nonetheless.

Just hope they don't over Persona my Etrian Odyssey!

You're right. Don't want to breath too much life in this stale genre.

You heard me.

I did hear you. It sounded something like "waaaaah!"

Seriously though, I'll never get the Persona, or even SMT, love. They're just so...mediocre. At best!

Even the remakes tried to make EO less EO =P

Eh, I get that you're joking, but not really. They just slapped a story mode on the games to draw in folks who care more about characters and plot than dungeon crawling and battle mechanics. Fortunately, they still leave the Classic Mode alone, so folks can have their cake and eat it too.

Alright, serious answer over, I now respond by pointing out that the world is made of noobs and failures, and that an Atlus working for financially strapped parent companies has had to do tricks on the corner at another's behest. It's like Taxi Driver, but without the Oscars.

Atlus wasting effort on this instead of giving us Catherine 2...

You have more of a chance with Lost Odyssey 2 bud

Or Mistwalker being at all relevant again for that matter.

OT: IGN have it an 8.5 Tbone :)

Well, not really. But it pumped out such healthy numbers... wish Atlus give us moar :(

The universe in Catherine is very interesting too. There's a lot of potential in it.

You heard me was there solely for the hyperlinked image.

And for bolded, why is it either or? Why you can't have a semblance of story to go alongside the gameplay. Lack of story is a product of low budgets and laziness, nothing to do with being a purist.

Catherine

1 Catherine PS3 2011 Adventure Deep Silver 0.26 0.12 0.20 0.06 0.64
2 Catherine X360 2011 Adventure Deep Silver 0.17 0.05 0.03 0.02 0.27
Total 0.43 0.17 0.23 0.08 0.91

5 Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 PS2 2008 Role-Playing Atlus 0.34 0.04 0.36 0.08 0.82
6 Persona 4: The Golden PSV 2012 Role-Playing Atlus 0.25 0.12 0.31 0.07 0.75

Unless you want to count these 2 as one game, or P3 and P3P etc. then Catherine sold more... according to VGC

just a note that 1-4 when searching Persona are games with the word personal in them -_-
