| uran10 said: lol no! I want it to be, but lets be completely honest here. Last year: Wii U no crappy tax hike to kill sales This year: Tax hike that killed momentum that was being built entirely and cut ALL legs short this gen. Yea a lot of people keep forgetting about that. |
Very true, glad I'm not the only one who remembered that.

Smash Bros. Wii U is its last hope of a bigger holiday season, but it doesn't seem like it'll have much of an impact. It may have a larger first week than Mario Kart, may move more systems, but most people who want Smash Bros. already have a Wii U. I expect somewhere between 350 to 450K opening, but considering how the install base is 1.9 Million right now, I don't see such a large spike in sales for release week. If not Smash Bros., then perhaps the Mario Kart bundle itself may get hold on impulse buyers, which has already been out for a while.
Of course it will. It would be really bad if it didn't since it had MK8 and Smash Bros this year,

I'm not trying to say ur wrong but I would like to know why ur so sure, in the op I explained how it's currently down 80k YoY and with 6 weeks left needs to sell 450k or in other words the same amount it has sold in the first 46 weeks of the year.

But in 2013 the taxes didn't hike.
My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Well, actually now that I think about it, it might actually not reach 890k this year. That's surprising cause I thought it was up yoy in Japan.
Last year they sold about 300k last 6 weeks, so they need to boost that boost by 60%...
Unless Smash gives a huge and lasting boost, no. It'll be down YOY.
Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

Meanwhile PSVita is up YOY....
