According to Media Create/Famitsu Wii U has sold about 450k this year in Japan, in the same time last year it had sold about 530k. Overall Wii U did about 890k in 2013, so another 360k in the last 6 weeks. Wii U basically needs to double it's YTD sales in the next 6 weeks, is it possible?

Notable releases in the last 6 weeks of last year were Super Mario 3D World & Dragon Quest X expansion, this year it has Super Smash Bros for Wii U & Amiibo.

Nope. Last week's weak boost from the mario kart bundle pretty much took away any chance it had of being up yoy. The only game that can save it from being down YoY is smash but at this point, the 3ds version in Japan probably will have weakened it's impact that it could of had on HW sales by a lot.

I think the last 6 weeks will be up but I'm not sure if it will be enough to overcome the 80k it's down currently.

With Smash Bros, maybe. But if it does, shouldnt be by a lot since SSB is also available on 3ds

Last year: Wii U no crappy tax hike to kill sales
This year: Tax hike that killed momentum that was being built entirely and cut ALL legs short this gen. Yea a lot of people keep forgetting about that.
