Forums - Gaming - Clarifying console prices

You get what you pay for.

No pay for online = poor or limited online experience and potential lack of support from 3rd parties.

I dont mind paying more for a better service. Infact I like paying more for better in most things.

I agree with paying more for better experience. But what I'm saying is that, although they're sellin you that, it isn't the case. I have good experience with WiiU and PS3 and never payed for it. That money is an extra grab for them, nothing else. It's not for improving the experience. My experience on PS3's onlien was already excellent...

Not only you get online with PS+ but you also get free games! Free games at the cost of $10,$18 and $50. I think it's a good price for free games.

Wrong.  Steam is free and has a much better onlune service with better download cap, browser with music and other background tasks,  speedy and very customizable UI and a very stable network with very little downtime.

The only thing consoles have over steam is the subscription model ps plus or games with gold,  but there is still a profit margin there.

the only things you can give microsoft credit for is a dumbed down steam version on consoles byt with a premium fee.  And the only thing you can give sony credit for is giving said premium service more value and forcing microsoft to actually start working for that subscription aswell

If you're going to use the price of online as a point of criticism against the PS4/X1, you should also include the huge amount of value provided by stuff like PS+. Regardless to what you think of the service, your argument comes across a very one sided when you ignore such a significant part of what is being offered.

Anyway, the WiiU's linear value isn't really relevant. To many, it's lack of 3rd party support, relatively poor hardware and comparatively poor multi-media functionality (compared to even the PS3), makes the WiiU a pretty poor value proposition.

The 2nd paragraph I totally agree with. That's why the main reason when choosing a console is the games it has/will have. Period. That is the deciding factor. But like I said I'm not talking about games. I'm saying you'll end up paying more on a console were you have to pay for online gaming than the 350$ price-tag they made you believe it is.

As for the 1st, although I don't deny it offers other/better stuff, personally I don't think many people would pay for that. Just look at the increase PS+ had from its PS3 era to PS4 era. That happened because with PS4 they have to subscribe for the online gaming.

Also the backwards compatibility. When you buy a WiiU, you also get a Wii. When you buy a PS4 or an XBone, you still have to buy another console, when these machines are capable enough to play last-gen games.

I've heard rumors about Sony making an emulator to play PS3 discs. Is that true?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

1) I'm wrong about the % of people, I don't know, I'll give you that, but I'm referring mostly to the people on these forums because this is essentially were I've been reading "WiiU costs almost as much as PS4/X1", and I guarantee you people in here, as avid as thet are gamingwise, about 90%-100% pay for online. As long as FIFA and CoD are concerned, I didn't know they couldn't play it on WiiU since you have at least Fifa13, CoD Bops e CoD Ghosts oit of those. Maybe those 300 hours I have on Black Ops II didn't really happen. Also you can't play MK8 or SSB online, so what? Comparing games or "my console is better than yours" wasn't the point on this thread incase you missed it in the OP

2) This point you made is so out of the line I shouldn't even bother. The point isn't boredom, not even close. Before you go all matrimonial councelor try to understand the topic at hand instead of making seamless insinuations. All your sugestions in this thread are mute and non-related (and paticularly if find some of this offensive tbh) to the OP. The only ones that make sense mean I have to buy Vita, PSTV, or whatever, which is precisely the point I'm making, you pay less with WiiU;

3) I didn't say there was anything wrong with that. More yes I agree, wider variety not so much. Anyway, like said I ain't talking about the games, because that would turn into a quality subjective discussion.

My conclusion: you didn't get the point of the thread and started with the same arguments as usual, like my games this and my games that. I'm not gripin about anything, I'm stating facts that your over-the-top love for one of the companies won't allow you to discern, so you'll continue to pay yearly instalments for your console. Good for you!

As I've seen your a bit biased, I don't care more about your opinion and I won't be replying to you anymore. I find your opinions aren't very constructive. Thank you very much.

1.) I didn't say you didn't play FIFA 13 od Black Ops, but so have numerous PS3 owners for the exact same amount as you - 0€. But since you are trying to single out next-gen, I'm pointing to next-gen games as well. But, as an added disappointment to your gripe, there are FIFA 15 and Advanced Warfare that can be still played online for free (only not on WiiU). I am sure that there is a fair number of WiiU users who would gladly pay for online to have an opportunity to play those brand new games. But, of course, my guess there is about as valid as your guess on 90-100% of PS4/XOne owners.

2.) The only reason why WiiU gamepad is good that you offered is being bored while your girlfriend watches soaps. I offered you solutions. Perhaps if you could have another reason, than my solutions would be in line. And if you get offended so easily, I understand why your girlfriend would rather watch soaps than interact with you.

3.) I get the point of the thread. You are trying to justify your choice if a console based only on a fractional financial expense while disregarding any added benefit said expense might have on your experience.

Also, I fail to see how my reply suggested an over the top love for a certain company, I said I don't pay for subscription either. It is jyst than I actually am not biased as you are that I have to make a thread basically pointing out how people who pay for subscription waste their money.

Seeing that you are biased, I absolutely don't care about your opinion, but will gladly reply to your posts if that will help to show you how your posts and threads are ridiculous, pointless and just invite responses that are similar.

I actually forgot that I needed PS+ to play online.

I bought it because of the free (severely discounted) games

$50 for 24 games is a bit more than $2 a game...worth it for me

However, I do understand your point

Never play MP. Signed ps+ for only free games and cloud savings backup.
Failed thread.

Or, as in my case; don't pay for online. I never got PS+ and I don't plan on getting it if I get a PS4 either; I never play console games online, I literally have not done so even a single time in my life.

Although a lot of people in denial on this thread, there are a few who see things reasonably. The ones in denial are the usual guys who live in fairyland world where "my company of choice is like my second father, they can do me no harm" while being milked to death.
