Its just that its always someone elses fault isnt it?

Not saying this is what you say, but last gen it was the lazy developers not working hard enough on the PS3 overly complicated cell structure and now it the too-hard working developers spending too much time optimising the weak Xbox One?

Very odd.

I simply think that both the PS and Xbox version of games should be given the same development time and resources (within reason), and if that means one version is worse, whether it be due to lower specs or being over complicated, then that's the fault of the console manufacturer. They made their choice when designing their console. It was Sony's fault that the PS3 frequently got the worse version of ports, and it's MS's now. Developers shouldn't make up for Sony/MS's mistakes.

The conspiracy is still there : "it's hard to see what exactly is causing the PS4 to be hit so hard - the difference cannot be explained by the 10 per cent boost in CPU clock-speed on the Xbox One, perhaps suggesting that the underlying netcode issues are more to blame here."-Digital foundry-

Yeah i am going to pass this games for one year, waiting for the full fix patch until it has the same frame rate with Xbox one :), mean while i am gonna play Dragon Age inquisition.

Bad word from Ubisoft.

Interesting bit:

"It seems that Assassin's Creed Unity has significant CPU optimisation issues. A locked 60fps is off the table and performance varies wildly, resulting in a poor presentation overall when frame-rate is unlocked, whether v-sync is active or off. The end result of this is that when the CPU issues lock up your system, your GPU stalls, waiting for data."

Kinda odd. The consoles have 6 1.8ghz cores available. You would think 4 3.9ghz cores would easily outperform that, yet DF says they could only get wildly fluctuating 40-60 fps paired with high end GPUs.

DF conclusion, not a great experience on any platform. Yet I've already seen countless commercials for AC Unity this weekend and a half hour special on Innerspace not mentioning one bit about the performance ofcourse. It will sell loads regardless.

So you are agreeing that last gen they were lazy with the PS3 and this ge they are workign too hard on the ONE?

During last gen PS3 proved to have the best visuals with exclusive games ; see Uncharted 2/3, The Last of Us, GOW 3/A, Ni no Kuni, Killzone 3, Heavy Rain / Beyond... I could even add MGS4, Flower/Journey or WipeOut. We could argue that PS3 got worse version of ports because of lazy developers.

Dunno about this gen though. Weird anyway that AC:U isn't running as good on PS4 as it is on Xbox One, as DF pointed out.

So there are some that think/assume that the XB1 with a 1.75Ghz CPU would outperform the PS4 with its 1.6Ghz CPU? Even worse to the degree of which we have seen in ACU?

Thats just not the case. There are devs that has specifically pointed out that the PS4 CPU and more importantly its programming language is considerably more effective (thus faster) than with the XB1. Like take this quote for instance.

Metro Redux Chief Technical Officer.

Oles Shishkovstov: Let's put it that way - we have seen scenarios where a single CPU core was fully loaded just by issuing draw-calls on Xbox One (and that's surely on the 'mono' driver with several fast-path calls utilised). Then, the same scenario on PS4, it was actually difficult to find those draw-calls in the profile graphs, because they are using almost no time and are barely visible as a result.

In general - I don't really get why they choose DX11 as a starting point for the console. It's a console! Why care about some legacy stuff at all? On PS4, most GPU commands are just a few DWORDs written into the command buffer, let's say just a few CPU clock cycles. On Xbox One it easily could be one million times slower because of all the bookkeeping the API does.

ACU on every single platform is just an all round unoptimized mess. And a game that the majority of its work was done on the XB1 and ported over to other platforms. Nothing more nothing less. No conspiracy, nothing special. This should have been clear the second ubisoft started talking about parity. Even at that time I had been repeatedly saying that the game was just built for/on the XB1 first and is being hurriedly ported over to other platforms. And how I wouldn't be surprised if the PS4 version actually ran worse. And here we are.

No, i was just stating what i believe developers should do. In reality they tend to work harder for the less 'able' console. Last gen it was the PS3 due to its ridiculous architecture, this gen it's the X1 due to it being relatively under powered and, in most cases, slightly more complex to work with. One version being worse than the other isn't necessarily a sign of 'laziness'.

The two situations aren't entirely comparable though.

Shoddy work, ridiculous.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine
