A metacritic average isn't some kind of holy truth that reviewers must be forced to adher to; differing from it just suggests a different opinion from the average, not an agenda against an entire  company.

And they are hardly the only ones to express any of those opinions. 

One could just as well argue that it's the majority of reviewers who are biased in the opposite direction.

Nobody said that it has the "best graphics," as some are arguing against. What's been said is that it's the "best looking" console game of the year, and that's something I've been saying since I picked up a Wii U. Nothing on my PS4 looks prettier than MK8. Make of that what you will. It may not be the most technically demanding game released this year, but it's simply gorgeous when you actually see it in (60fps) action on an HD television.

On a dis note: I don't think we've seen the best of what the Wii U has to offer either. The new Zelda looks to be taking beautiful een further than Mario Kart has. That being said, the new Smash Bros. looks a little underwhelming so far. Maybe it will really pop during gameplay (like MK8).

1 & 2. SM3DW has a Metacritic rating of 93. No, not the highest of the year, but one of them.  It's higher rated on MC than 5/10 of the games in your signature.  It has over two dozen perfect scores posted out of a total 82 reviews.  For Eurogamer to name it their GOTY isn't bias.  It's basic statistics.  Surely, if 25 people say that a game is perfect, one of them will also say that it's the best game of the year?

4. Driveclub has a Metactic rating of 71. Nearly half of its reviews are mixed or negative.  Its user score is even lower at 5.5, indicating that it really wasn't as well-received as you thought.  EG's score wasn't atypical.  You have a little more of a point with ISS, as it was well-received by both critics and gamers, but it's still not that far off the average to give it a 7.  19 others gave it a 7 or lower, so where's their bias?

5. So did a lot of people, because MK8 is gorgeous.  Only game that could give it a run in 2014 is Infamous: Second Son in my opinion.  Both have phenomenal art direction and presentation.

The game is 1080p and 60fps right?  If so, and with that 8 player smash and all the crazy stuff that tends to happen in Smash, it makes sense.  LBP continues to look hideous with some of the worst character design around imo.

Well.... some people will not agree with that, but no one can deny that Mario Kart 8 has a great art design, and art design does matter a lot. I personally think that great graphics depend much more on creativity and art direction than on technical matters as resolution, particles etc.

Why does personal interpretation of art need to be logical?

even though i am ignoring the basic cartoonish art style of MK8 and the overblown bloom the game has, and i take it as it does have an "amazing art style". i will go out to point that there are games, that also have fantastic art styles which are also massivily superior to MK8 in technical terms. Destiny and Dragon Age have mind blowing art styles and technical visuals that are miles ahead of MK8

comparing DA to MK8 both have great art styles, but one is on a completely different leage when it comes to the technical side of the art. so its illogical to say MK8 looks better than it when DA is tied on art style as they are both "amazing" but DA is miles ahead in the technical level.

You have only played Nintendo games, or you do so because you only like Nintendo games after trying other games? If you haven't tried other games, you should, as there are a huge number of excellent games out there.
