Meh, I'd be happy if we NEVER went digital. I don't mind it as an option, but having physical games should always be something you can buy imo.

Music CD used to cost $12-15 and most of the song were crap for the one or two good songs.

Now it cost $1 or less per song digitally.

The cost of paying game digital would be cut by half.... new release would cost $19.99-29.99 compares to the $59.99-69.99. Would you still want to pay $59.99-69.99 at retail when you can go digital for $19.99-29.99???

Most of the music people stream and/or download legally, sound like garbage compared to vinyl or even a CD. For instance, Spotify's desktop free service streams it's music at a level that is 10 TIMES lower than the actual ablum. So when you spend more money at the store, buying the real deal, you get your money's worth.

With games, it's the same thing. You get the resell it, collect it and own it for however long you want and never have to worry about it again. To me, that's worth the extra money.

Having said that what percentage of music is bought retail vs digitally? maybe 10-15% at retail now ?? Both are being replace by streaming services.

I can't agree with this statement anymore than I already do. If I could make love to this statement, I just might. Because I really really never wanna live in an age where I can't lick my video games.

Wait right there, I'll get the lube.

most albums have 12 or more songs so most albums cost less than $1 per song at retail ergo digital costs more.

take this for example..  taylor swifts new album:  $10 for retail CD.  $12.50 for digital album.  $1.29 per song.
Digital is the most expensive option other than vinyl.

i don't care.  i'd rather just buy the digital version than get a CD and have to rip it and transfer it to my phone.   too much fucking work.

also, if the music you listen to only has 1 or 2 good songs you are listening to shitty music.

On topic: There's no way in hell I'm waiting for a 50+ gig game to download off my slow ass internet. The installs are bad enough, but waiting for that kind of a size to download is BS in any case. Unless wireless providers all of a sudden found a way to allow for ridiculous download speeds, no tank you, please come again.

I'm not particularly fond of buying digital games, but a large part of that is the ridiculous cost of them. I'm one of those that live in Europe so the physical versions of games are cheaper, often significantly so. Would love to see them sell at a reasonable price, or better yet cheaper than retail games.

That. AA games are 40 euros retail, 60 digital.

Even for gamers we all agree that there more value if you can get a retail copy vs digital copy.

..

i disagree.  retail is worth at least 50% less to me than digital.   ..maybe even less.

i'll pay money for an mp3.  i won't even accept a CD anymore.   i feel almost the same about video games.

Even though you could take the files from the CD and convert them to mp3s and then sell the CD?

if i buy digitally i get to listen to the music now.

if i buy a cd i have to wait 5 days for it to ship (via amazon cause like hell i'm driving to best buy) take the time rip it and than transfer it to my phone.   fuck that shit.  how poor would i have to be that i'd rather wait a week and spend an hour fucking around with shit in order to save 5 bucks.  i have a kid now.  my free time is worth dramatically more than 5 bucks and hour.

And now we buy DRM infested music that can only be played the way they want you to play. Buying a CD? Play where you want. Want to rip it to MP3 and pass to your cousins phone? No problem.

I like to own the things I buy.

haha unless it's out of stock or 2 am in the morning:P If digital was cheaper then retail you wouldn't really hesitate.

Depends on which game it is. If it's one that I don't want that much and it's on a massive digital sale (like 10% of the retail price), I will buy it. If it's a game that I want, I'll pay more for retail. I've already paid more than 2 times the digital price just to get a game at retail.

The only exception was Freedom Wars. I got it as a present and it had to be digital, so no problem here.

I will wait to get it at retail instead of downloading too. Of course, that's on PSN where the games don't have always online DRM (except PS+, but they are free). I don't buy on Steam. My Steam account only has around 5 games, all of them received for free with GPUs or laptops.

digital preloading means i'll get my game installs days before release and is playable ~8 hours before your store opens.   -8 hours seems like a fair "wait" to me...

I don't mind digital as some games are really cheap compared to retail games. In nz where i am based at , i bought wolf among us complete edition for 34 nz dollars whereas teh nz retail edition cost 69.99. as result i have quite a few digital games on my XO
