You're really want to see dark age in the future look like without Nintendo doing console business?

Look, i'm not gonna explain scary story.

Then these people should by a nintendo console/handheld - it is so easy and it is not really expensive.

Semms lots of people keep on saying i want to play nintendo games, but also keep on being "too proud" or whatever to buy nintendo console.

And if there are 10 games they wanna play, they still complain about it instead of taking 200 bucks in their hand and finally buying a WiiU. I really do not understand those guys. I am not saying Sony should go 3rd, because i wanna play some of their exclusive games - if i want to, i have to buy the console. no problem at all. and thats completely fine with me. but complaining instead of taking actions is making absolutely no sense at all.

Nintendo does not need to go 3rd party, Nintendo just needs more games output, more exciting unique games.

The moment nintendo is going 3rd party, the moment nintendo will start dying rapidly! This would be one of the saddest moments ever in video gaming history.

I'll kill myself before Nintendo goes third party.

... Wait, I mean Nintendo will kill themselves before that happens...!

They'll die before they go third party. They're that kind of stubborn. They have roughly ~$10 billion in cash and assets. It'll take quite a lot for Nintendo to go down.

They are also back making money again which is promising.

That's what the power of Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, Smash, and cost effective consoles do for ya. It hasn't been pretty, but they're bringing the ship back (in terms of making some money at least), and they ain't going down without a fight.

I have owned every Nintendo console except the Wii u(wait until it sells for $100 before buying)

Nintendo hasn't had real third party support since super Nintendo because they still had a monopoly on the console market (they did have some challengers but none of them got a real share of the market)

Once they lost their monopoly to the ps, since then they have been surviving off handhelds and Mario/Zelda.

The problem with this that the handheld market is their monopoly (please don't bring up vita) is challenged by mobile gaming.  It might go away as fast as their console business but it will eventually resort to Mario/Zelda which is a niche market.

They should be transitioning to a software only company, if they continue this path.

Then again this my opinion and I was to lazy to include any statistics to support my claims but still just my two cents

They don't need to stop handhelds. The 3DS and New 3DS are holding their ground against smartphones.

I have a problem with consoles in general. I love Nintendo but they need to stop being so arrogant when it comes to their consoles and them doing their own thing. I definitely don't think they should be a third party company though.

To say Nintendo would fail as a software only company because previous console makers that didn't't have a good 1st party software brands in first place is not fair comparison.

I can't tell the future but Nintendo's market share is being eroded.

Nintendo's consoles have and still are profitable, something they simply can't make up by having their games go multiplatform. You do realize the massive layoffs Nintendo would have if they turned into a third-party developer? And with less teams means less games. And with less games means even more bitching about how Nintendo isn't developing anything new. Also with less teams means the quality of their games can dip as well.
