Playstation Network gets hacked annually. Microsoft tried to prevent people from owning the software that they bought for their Xbox One consoles. The Yellow Light- and Red Ring of Death made millions of console owners purchase the same console twice. Backwards compatibility regarding software as well as hardware-accessories is practically nonexistent. As if this wasn't enough, Sony and Microsoft also forces you to pay regularly in order to play online multiplayer on all games that you have bought.

Nintendo is the last respectable hardware developer out there, yet somehow you reach the conclusion that paying over $100 for their latest console is a problem? Good grief.

Going third party won't benefit them neither the other third parties. They need Nintendo Fusion. One console, great library.

That's fine but it would be niche market.  Their market share is being eroded and frankly I will buy their consoles but years after they released and used so they won't see any of my money

Their market share went up last gen in homeconsoles and this gen the handheld part is destroying its competition. If their handhelds are niche, what are their competitors?

And please, I'm not talking about mobile.

If they want to not be niche, then going third party for mobiles and tablets is their best chance.

Sony and Microsoft can't do what Nintendo does. They've been doing it for some time now. I'm not downplaying because MS and Sony do things that Nintendo doesn't care to do too. Nintendo provides experiences that can't be found on any other console. Even if they are losing popularity in the console market, they'll always be around. Most companies that have been around for 100+ years has to be doing something right. And they might be in the past in terms of some things but Nintendo will respond to overwhelming response sooner or later. DVDs, Internal Storage, Online, none of that was in Nintendo's plans. Once it took off they began to do it too. That doesn't mean Nintendo isn't innovative or they copy either as internal storage, online, CD based games were all before Sony and MS and even Nintendo. Nintendo's innovation is defined by the ideas that they make like the D-Pad, Dual Screen Gaming, etc. It's their ideas only. That's why I don't have an issue with them. Their goal is to make money. Some criticize them for not making certain products when we don't even know the first thing about making a AAA game. Nintendo has so much money they don't have to worry about the same issues that befell Sega and Atari. Nintendo has the ability to have a runaway show or a snail.

They learn from their mistakes and that's why they're still around. You're gonna make mistakes, you're gonna have people that don't like you but does that necessarily mean you stop doing what you're doing, even if you are still making a ton of money? No, it doesn't. I will defend anyone who is being treated unfairly not just Nintendo as my post can be applicable to many different companies.

One word....SEGA....aw man you guys stole my answer.

Seriously, name one japanese software company who is profiting right now more than Nintendo......I'lll wait.

This is like saying hey Nintendo, your bayonet is gonna run out of bullets, you should just take the blade end off and fight with that before it's too late......

Sega has sonic so you are implying that Sonic=Mario/Zelda

To say Nintendo would fail as a software only company because previous console makers that didn't't have a good 1st party software brands in first place is not fair comparison.

I can't tell the future but Nintendo's market share is being eroded.

It is by mobiles and tables. And that's the market they must seek.

Good good, i love this^.

Advantages for Fusion if true? Moreeeee games!!! 1 MK, 1 SSB, 1everything (thats used for both HH/HC ips) which means development goes to other games, hopefully FZero/Metroid, and some creative new ips like Splatoon :0

Part of the reason Nintendo makes great games is because they design the hardware they make their games on and know how to integrate their games in the best way possible to it. I do believe the quality of Nintendo games would go down if they became 3rd party, and I would go from a Nintendo/PC gamer playing about 10-15 hours a week to only PC with 3-4 hours of playtime a week. It would be very sad to see Nintendo be torn down like that.

Exactly. EAD just need to develop 1 MK and 1 Smash. The can release a 2D Mario, a 3DWorld game and a SM64 sequel. A top down Zelda and a 3D one. Metroid 2D and Prime. Many new IPS and revive old ones.

Nintendo's consoles have and still are profitable, something they simply can't make up by having their games go multiplatform. You do realize the massive layoffs Nintendo would have if they turned into a third-party developer? And with less teams means less games. And with less games means even more bitching about how Nintendo isn't developing anything new. Also with less teams means the quality of their games can dip as well.

Yeap, two things as well...

1. Pokemon: Finally put it on Consoles. Personlly im fine with just HHs, but i would definitely play on big screen! I know millions of others woud do the same. TBH pokemon would definitely be one of the best things to have both a HC/HH, as on the go and at home on the big screen.

2. We need that amiibo functionality game. A Kingdom Hearts/Disney Infinity style game but a unique one that would benefit heavily for Nintendo Fusion. Especially if its a launch game. IMAGINE THAT *.*
