Forums - Nintendo - Will Wii U sell over 1 million in NPD Nov+Dec?

maxleresistant said:

Are we talking about US only? Because like I said, after checking, the WiiU sold 1.5 million units globally during November and December of last year.

With Smash bros and the boost from mario Kart, it could easily sell 2.5 millions globally.

Now I hope Nintendo will advertise properly Mario Kart 8 and its new DLC during the holidays.

Yes, NPD is just USA

very very easily. if smash launch + black friday is sucessfull enough, november alone should be close to or equal to 1 million on npd.

No. Max could be 800k, but i'm gonna go with 650k.

What is ur reason for thinking it will do worse than last year despite being up 47% YOY from Jan-Oct?

Yeah, it'll do probably about 1-1.2 million I think.

With Smash Bros. releasing soon I would have to say...YES...just for this game alone. If there are great Black Friday sales at Best Buy, Target, and Walmart then that will help as well.

Dec alone should be >1M

My guess is 1.5M for Nov+Dec!

Should be easily possible.
Smash + MK8 are reasons for a lot of people to consider a Wii U, so 300k more than last year should be achievable.

It might make it to the 1 million mark, depending on how much of an impact Smash Bros and amiibos make this holiday.

I predict it will be anywhere between 573k - 3,015k
or

573,000 - 3,015,000 units sold worldwide!!!

Let me see if I'm understanding you correctly...

You think that, in spite of the fact that there have only been two months this year that were worse for Wii U than last year (January and September - one being the drawdown after the Wii U launch and the other being the month that Wind Waker was released, whereas Hyrule Warriors didn't make it out until October), in spite of the Wii U being well up this year over last year for the first 10 months total, and in spite of the Wii U selling 73k in the first full week of November compared with 59k in the equivalent week last year (with 2013 sales being down relative to the previous week, while 2014 sales are up), the Wii U will sell 50k less across the holiday season... in spite of the release of Smash Bros?

I'm sorry, but you're going to have to explain your reasoning further than this, because I cannot see any plausible explanation for your prediction.
