Forums - Gaming - The N3DS support. Easy or hard?

While we in the west wait for the new 3DS to arrive, let's discuss and speculate.

The drought that the WiiU suffer on its first years was a curse that affected the evolution of the system. One of the reasons for this people think is the increasing sizes of videogames and the cost of videogames is rising, both in money and in used resources. Because of that, some think that the company can't support its sstems equally anymore. 2013 was a great year for the 3DS, but at the cost of the WiiU getting less games. 2014 is becoming the opposite, WiiU titles are the priority now (at least in my opinion).

So, when the N3DS arrives next year, what will happen? I know that the N3DS can support Wii (and by that Gamecube) titles, so a lot of titles for the console will be ports to some degree (I'm thinking about Pandora's Box, The Last Story, Super Mario Galaxy 1&2, Pokemon Colosseum & XD remakes, Metroid Prime trilogy, Sin and Punishment, Sonic Adventure 1&2, Fire Emblem PoR/RD collection...), Nintendo will have to work on new titles for the thing. Whill that efford damage the other libraries? How will the regular 3DS library be supported?

P.S. How many N3DS titles are confirmed already?

P.S.2 How much time will it take to the N3DS to surpass the Vita in sales?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I think what will basically happen is that the n3ds will get one or two exclusives each year but the vast majority of the games will work for both devices!

PS: I think two so far, one is xenoblade the other is an "unannounced" title but I believe Nintendo said that they are working on it
PS2: By 2017

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

You'd think that they would make games that would be playable on both but maybe offer a few upgrades if you are playing on the newer hardware.

PREDICTIONS FOR END OF 2015: (Made Jan 1st 2015)

PS4 - 34M - XB1 - 21m - WII U -12M

when n3ds will outsell psvita...?why you ask that now,how can we answer that without knowing the release date in the west!E.g if it releases in January,by the end of 2015...!

There's only one N3DS title announced so far and nobody should expect more than ten for its entire lifetime. Nintendo doesn't have to work on new games for the N3DS, hence why they won't do it. They will be getting ready for their next gen handheld instead.

I think the N3DS isn't just an upgrade of the regular system. With the handheld market shrinking, Nintendo is waiting and looking for a way to implement some sort of element in its hardware (maybe the Fusion, maybe a relation with the QoL stuff) and get back the lost public. I'm sure the N3DS will replace the original system worldwide in 2016 and prolongue the lifespam of the console, maybe to 2020 being  the maximum. Of cousre, this is only if the model sells as well as the 3DS for a long time. If sales become dangerously low, they will release their new handheld in 2017.

The system is going to get like 2 exclusives a year and they rest will launch on both systems. Nintendo isn't going to forget about the 46 million people that own a 3DS.

I really don't think the system is going to be hard to make games for. Seems rather simular to the 3DS, just a little bit more powerful.

Game wise, I really have no idea what they plan to do with the console. I think we will see some more ports, but I can't see them making any big IP exclusive to the system(speaking about a new game, not a port of a old game).

Are you sure...?Wouldn t nintendo like to force those 45.5m or at least the 50% of them to buy new 3ds:P?

only few ports from old games. nothing more.
but lots of 3DS games will be done. Some of them will perform better on N3DS, and this will be the selling point.

Well, the DSi got hundreds of titles, even this year new DSi titles were released. Something similar might happen for N3DS.

Please enlighten this noob. I though "all" 3ds / 2ds games were supposed to run in "N3DS". Is it not?

Yes, that is correct, but the N3DS titles won't work on the regular 3DS. Nintendo will have to support 2 systems and half.
