Damn! The 3DS just keeps demolishing, both hardware and software.
And good to see MK8 and Animal crossing New leaf up high

Imma predict between 30k-60k I was gonna go safe and say between 20k-50k but the 30k to 60k range seems more likely all things considered.

PS4 selling twice as much with nothing but the holiday boost in the worst market for home consoles says something anyway; especially given that the PS4 is actually performing very poorly with 10k in November, the PS3 sold around 57k in the same week but with Dynasty Warriors 6 to help it, it still sold 17k the week before that as well, even with big games coming; I can't see the PS4 selling any impressive numbers lifetime in Japan. Japan is a terrible market now, these numbers just make me sad and they seem intent on becoming the world's first mobile only nation, or something close to that at least. I wonder what the 3DS can pull off in Japan this holiday; I wouldn't be surprised if almost 40% of the 3DS global figures came out of Japan for November and December. It's still down about 8-9k yoy, even with the N3DS and last year, there was Pocket Monsters in week 5 and Monster Hunter 4 to drive sales, now we have Monster Hunter 4G in week 3 and Smash in week 9/10 plus the new model and it still falls in the best market. I think I'm right in thinking that the N3DS won't really have that much impact on the 3DS lifetime sales when all is said and done and the new model(s) are bound to have a smaller effect in NA and especially Europe. Xbox One sold five times as much as the 360 though! Amazing! ![]() PS3 still hanging on, not exactly wild numbers but quite good for a console in its 9th holiday season in the worst major home console market, and more surprisingly; still roughly on par with the Wii U. |
We simultaneously posted the same for wii u:P yeah wii u got 1323% up with a bundle of wii party u,from 2.8k to 39k...!now it is 4.8k t0--->?i really hope for the same boost but it isnt so possible, at least the half of that boost is efficient! Again,where 3ds is down?74k vs 80k...http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/media-create-sales-week-45-2013-nov-04-nov-10-wii-u-sales-drop.453514721/

...large margin?why you don t just say that it sells what all other consoles are selling together :P

I don't think anyone can rightly say that the sales are "low", but everything boils down to two main questions;
1: How will it look around this time next year, not to mention two years?
2: Is it a good thing that handhelds are so reliant on the Japanese market when we know they're shifting more towards mobile than anyone else? Not to mention countless revisions.
In global sales, the 3DS is not showing impressive numbers, not if you compare it to the PS4, Wii or least of all; the DS. Which in itself should be raising eyebrows since the 3DS is practically without competition whereas the DS beat the successful PSP that has sold in excess of 80 million and even did great in Japan. There is simply no denying that dedicated handhelds are in serious trouble in the very near future (I believe I said that the market would collapse within 3-5 years, back in 2012) and that is a legitimate issue to discuss. The sales are not in any way low, but relatively speaking; they are actually "low".

Edited my post for 3DS numbers; hard to keep track when there are so many different versions...
It doesn't change much though, especially if one looks at global numbers and sees that the 3DS will likely be down 100-150k yoy for this week. And the fact that there are already this many revisions to maintain some momentum also speaks volumes.
As for the Wii U's hardware boost; I'm not so sure that a similar boost is impossible, I certainly won't be surprised to see 50k or so in Japan for next week. I'm expecting a good November and a baseline this low is easy to improve, like we saw last year.

Yeah but Wii U will back to these numbers after a few months. Smash bros. won't sell systems forever.
