Forums - Nintendo - SSBU Reviews, Metascore: 93 (27 Reviews)! [4 Perfect Scores] [23 Reviews Over 90!] Cons= "Too Much Fun"

I love seeing those 9's

Apprently IGN is waiting for online multiplayer to come out.

But so far i think they would give it a 9.5 ( - Smash tour) hopefully the online would be not bad.

Complaining about the lack of story mode, which is a very silly reason to deduct points in a fighting game. He's going to complain about a lack of story in Fifa next?

Subspace was the worst part of Brawl

Fair reason or not, let's be honest here: we all knew the low scores would complain about the lack of a story mode.

I'm not a fan of no story mode either. Not everyone has siblilings and friends to play with. Adventure mode allows the only child or people who loved the platforming and progression of SSE to enjoy the game even more. I clocked more hours in SSE than any other mode. Online was second though.

Post Arcade (National Post) - 8.0/10

First score under 90.

Weather I agree with his score or not I can agree that a lack of Story mode is a negative. Ive never played a fighter without one and its usually where I spend most my time. Also if FIFA had no story mode next year its sales would half, we call it career mode where you play through the story of you player and/or manager =P

Reviews looking good... can't remember what I predicted for it, I know it was over 90... 93 maybe...

Signature goes here!

There's also this one that came out before the embargo.

They also had no reason for docking 15 points.

Polygon cant find fault with it, so they are waiting for the online to launch, in the hope that they can mark it down ;)

Sure they did: clicks

Damn. Expecting it will drop a bit, but that's a solid base right there.

It's probably not going below 90 at this point. I predict 92-93 in the end

It definitely has a fantastic shot at 90+. If it misses that target, it will only barely miss it. A couple of asshole reviews can still ruin it though. It happened with MCC, which got five 75 and under reviews. Right now we're seeing the people who haven't tested the online but put out a review anyway. If that online isn't completely flawless, this metascore is going to come crashing down when a few assholes looking for any reason to give a bad score say "See! We waited for the online to be finished like good reviewers, and the online had flaws! But that's the only part that matters, so it has to be perfect! Here's a 60!"

If I trusted reviewers not to be assholes, I'd be predicting a 92-93 as well, putting it on par with Rayman Legends and 3D World, the best scores on Wii U. But I don't, so I'm just waiting for the online to be done, the reviews to flood in, and the score to lower to an 89, just above Mario Kart 8.

MCC was never this high though and it had major online flaws around launch. Smash is lucky because reviews are up way before the game is released for "public testing"

Lucky? No matter how you cut it, though Online is important and im looking forward to it, SSB has always been one of the biggest local player games and thats where its popular at. MCC as a FPS needs to be online (at least for most gamers). Like Splatoon i can see being harsh for on reviewers as its multiplayer heavily will focus online.
