Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

It's an fps why would it even matter whether you're a male or a female.
SPOILER ALERT
Play killzone SF at the end you may play as a female

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Because. I'm a girl and most FPS characters are guys. And how long do you even play as a girl?

I always use a female character every chance I get! Nothing better then seeing some nifty jiggle physics

What we should actually focus on is eradicating males from video game characters as a whole. Useless meat that's not fun to look at.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I always play as a Siren first in Borderlands and I usually go female in at least one Fallout play-through.

That being said, if it's a dedicated, named character, then the sex should correspond with the writer's vision and the narrative of the game. It should never be something that is changed later because of demographic concerns, one way or the other.

Thank you!

The problem with protaganists in most FPSs isn't just their gender, it's their lack of character. That's what needs fixing rather than just making them women

I agree with you that more female characters would be a good thing for both female and male gamers.

If given the option to play a game as a male or female I would probably pick male 60% of the time. But the industry currently offers about 10% of games with female leads, not including games where you can design your own character.

While part of this is getting more female's into the game development industry as designers, the other part is current designers looking at potential narratives from different perspectives, such as that of a woman.
