I think it is better not to actually
Since the majority of gamers are males, and game devs want to appeal to these males more, well, you get the point

Take Mortal Kombat for example, not an FPS, but I think you should get what I am saying now

It's too hard on developers to make female characters. Twice as much work.

But Splatoon has female squids.
