Maybe that's why VGC has it listed at 7.2m ;)

I know that. Which is why the OP shouldn't say 7.41

For that to happen the Vita would have to keep selling about what it's doing now. That just won't happen, it's sales will increase a lot before the end of the year. It will be mainly in Japan, but it's worth mentioning it was able to sell like 80k a week last Decemeber. And for your Wii U figure... you think the Wii U is going to sell an average of 2-300k per week from now until the end of the year? |
Dude, it sold 1.6M in Nov + Dec last year, with Unbundled Mario 3D World (which many thought was same thing as 3D Land) and PS4 & Xbox One being the launch
I expect it to sell 2.5m + in the last two months, thanks to 2 supporting titles (1 in EU) and BUNDLED Smash Bros, which is actually hyped up well unlike 3D World.

They do say the third is the charm, it has been tipped to outsell the Vita by the end of each holiday so far, so maybe this will be the one. Looking at how poor BF was for Wii U, I wouldn't count on it though.
I think Vita will keep the lead until China release. Remember the total on VGchartz is over tracking the Wii U and the weekly number is way too high as well. SSB had a minimal effect. Rumours have it Vita will do decent numbers in China so this battle could be very interesting.
