PS4 and this will be my first time with the game. Skipped it in anticipation of a PS4 version. Cosidering buying a PC copy at some point just to mess around with mods/settings.

You are not missing out on free content. As far as it was announced you can take your account cross-platform, as long as you have been a member of Rockstar Social Club.

I have the same situation (X360 --> PS4) and have just linked my new PSN account to the existing XBL account on Rockstar Social Club.
