Play The Last of Us a game with the best AI ever.

not trying to flame, but you sure about that? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i03gk2cVcKI

Wow he has the most annoying laugh. Also do you really think that is a good example? The game would have been annoying as shit if Ellie kept getting spotted.

AI in TLoU is fantastic

Meh, I dont want to turn this into a flame war, I enjoyed TLOU, I really did, but the AI is some of the worst I've ever seen. The clicker sections were not as intense as they should have been because the AI was so poor. Yes, I can understand giving the friendly AI some leway, but it completely breaks an otherwise solid stealth experience. Human AI on the contrary was great in open spaces, but no so much in closed environments.

TloU has really good enemy AI.

Half-life and Fear were the last time AI surprised me. if AI were smart you would never be able to get through the game.

It is about time friendly AI gets vastly improved. Escort missions shouldn't have to be so annoying, and co-op AI really needs to smarten up so it doesn't have to cheat or break immersion like in TLoU. They're either in the way or suicidal. It does make it easier not to feel guilty to sacrifice them like in ME2. Send in the cannon fodder for a distraction while I pick them off, revive the dumbasses later. My 5 year old is a much better co-op partner (in PvZ GW) than all the co-op AI I have seen.

I always found funny throwing a sticky grenade into a grunt, only for him to go running like crazy (and generally into his teammates, which result in a win/win situation).

You can't market AI like you can with Graphics!

Half Life 2 disagrees.

Alot of people were really hyped about the AI and how nothing was going to be scripted and how every playthrough would be completely different because the AI was going to have personalitiy etc.

And then the game ended up being a script marathon and alot of people were disappointed.

TLoU also had alot of A.I talk and also failed to deliver.

But...that would make me have to think more. I WANNA WIN! Also skynet taking over and all that. Can't have them becoming self-aware and killing us all

maybe someone here needs to create a webpage that analyzes ai in games and compares them and gives them a score, and lists with games with top ai to get devs caring about. I am being serious. starcraft 2 (i know and RTS) has great ai. not only that blizzard has upgraded the ai several times. they set a bar that i dont think other devs could compete in in term of ai. different difficulties, different build strategies, and different styles that you can select for an ai. would be cool if shooters had that, run and gun style ai, play it safe ai, stealth ai, etc.

Outside of the KINGS - F.E.A.R. (both PC and 360), Killzone 2, and the entire S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, I'd mostly agree.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - had great AI. I almost forgot about that game. One of the few games i never tried to run and gun. every fight you had to be careful
