Forums - Nintendo - Single Player Campaign for Splatoon Detailed, Q2 2015 Release Planned

During today's Nintendo Direct broadcast more details were given about Nintendo's upcoming squid shooterSplatoon. While the core of the game is the 4x4 online multiplayer shooter — revealed at E3 — in which two teams compete to cover the most ground with ink, it has been confirmed that the game also features an offline single player campaign mode.

In the single player campaign your squid-like character will have to face an octopus army who also have an arsenal of ink weaponry. Many different forms of octopus were shown and there appears to be lots of variety in the levels on offer; though previously confirmed, it's pleasing that this offline component is shaping up enough to be shown.

Splatoon is scheduled for a Q2 2015 release.

This game looks pretty epic! Its soo colorful and its easy to see the awesome mechnics that goes around it. The levels also look pretty amazing! I am wondering how long the single player is though

The singelplayer looked a lot of fun as well. Nintendo might have a good new IP on their hands.

It was already an interestingly fresh and quirky game, but a proper single player campaign with some nicely de blob-esque sequences has elevated it to my "day 1" list.

some of the level design reminds me of quake and unreal..

the multiplayer in this game is going to be hardcore.

This game has like, MEGATON potential. Hopefully the online aspect is a focus for marketing as well.

I really hope Nintendo give this the push it deserves and treat it as a major franchise, because it definitely shows the potential to be one of their new key mid-tier brands, like Pikmin or Kirby.

It is the main focus. Even Iwata said so but they put it in so it can cater to those who just want to lay back and play alone.

Game is now worth $60!
