I do prefer 720p/60, 900p/60, 1080/60. Sometimes I think developers sacrifice 30fps in order to achieve 1080p, thats a shame, but if they don't do so, the outrage would be bigger.

I feel the same way on this. If going with a lower rez gives better fps then why not do it.

because a game looking good sells your game to casuals better than a game performing well. casuals = $$$ and that's who Rockstar has been targeting with GTA V.

Can't tell if serious.

Are we talking about the same casuals that went gaga over graphics-intensive juggernauts like Wii Sports last gen?

The same casuals that can't figured out how to play a game that doesn't use motion controls or requires the use of two analog sticks simultaneously?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Except casuals don't care for 1080p. The game would be 720p 30fps they would still enjoy themselves.

Hardcore gamers and forum elitists are different though. Until they were so vocal about how 1080p makes a game better than anything else nobody cared that much.

They do care about looks though and guess who Rockstar cares more about? Core gamers or ca$ual$?

Rockstar wants to sell to any videogame fan be it core or casuals. The game could be 720p for all I care only elitists would try to "boycut" the game while casuals would have a blast playing.

Show me people who said 1080p made games better then anything else?  Also casuals do know 1080p is a well known term now.  It is not 2001. Why are you so bitter?   Games revolve around tech that's a fact of life.  Nothing wrong with wanting progress.

People spend 400 bucks on a console are allowed to prefer the same game at 1080p versus 900 or 720p on another system,  especially those who own both.

No need to point anyone specific, keep reading forums there's plenty of people trying to "boycut" games because the resolution of certain games don't meet their prerequisite.

I'm not bitter at all. In fact, I find this entertaining. I want progress as much as anyone but I'm not going to talk crap about a game not being the next benchmark pusher.

Hmm that's sad to hear, maybe they do dissapoint some people. But in my eyes they seem to strive for some of the best quality games out there. RDR, LA Noire, MP3, GTA V ... just to name the most recent.

I can still recall the moment when I realized that something was wrong with GTA V: the moment that I got a 'mission passed' screen from simply purchasing a mask. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks. That's when I realized much of the game is little more than glorified button prompts. Missions that told me where to drive to on a map so that I could listen to the guy riding shotgun yammer story in my ear. After that I'd sit and watch a cutscene and then wait for a guy to tell me when to fire my sniper rifle while he continued to yammer story in my ear. The whole torture sequence in one of the missions, that had scant gameplay in it. It was just button prompts, what challenge exists there? Little to none. The torture sequence was put there for the sake of getting some controversy and controversy helps sell a game. Considering the lengths Rockstar will go to sell their game (benches, billboards, sides of buses, faces of buildings), I wouldn't doubt it. It was marketing, not good game design philosophy that decided on that mission.

GTA 5 is great from a technical level and this upgrade to 1080p will surely impress many but from a game design perspective, it's still horribly uninspired. I need to go play San Andreas again to see if perhaps this is just me growing jaded or if indeed GTA is becoming just a means to an end: Rockstar's bank account.

Yeah, I'm not a fan either.

To be honest, GTA has never really impressed me, it's always struck me as more of a glorified "run over civilians and murder prostitutes" simulator than any kind of well constructed gameplay experience, but what little I've played of GTA5 slid under the already low bar I had for it, presenting me with some of the most unlikeable, unrelatable, despicable protagonists I've ever had the displeasure of playing as.

Missions were boring, and goofing around was mildly distracting for about 15 minutes before losing all appeal.

*ahem*

So you cannot post any proof.... Says it all.  Sounds like your sour one system does it better then the other.  3 fanatics on a forum don't me mean squat. A lot of crazy are on forums.  Pointing out forum hyperbole is silly means nothing.

Yall are acting like 30FPS is unplayable which is simply ridiculous.

I was expecting 1080p on PS4 but not on Xbox One, i'm pleasantly surprised! :D

I can see that parity will be the "go to" response when the PS4 doesn't hit 1080p 60fps.

In reality, they're both weak. Pc has 4k Ffs. Wake up to yourselves.

Well if you're looking for specific words from specific people then I'm not going to provide "proof" as I don't want to dig every threads. You can talk about my sour system all day, it doesn't matter I still have fun no matter the platform. And I don't consider myself a casual gamer.
