I do prefer 720p/60, 900p/60, 1080/60. Sometimes I think developers sacrifice 30fps in order to achieve 1080p, thats a shame, but if they don't do so, the outrage would be bigger.

I feel the same way on this. If going with a lower rez gives better fps then why not do it.

because a game looking good sells your game to casuals better than a game performing well. casuals = $$$ and that's who Rockstar has been targeting with GTA V.

Except casuals don't care for 1080p. The game would be 720p 30fps they would still enjoy themselves.

Hardcore gamers and forum elitists are different though. Until they were so vocal about how 1080p makes a game better than anything else nobody cared that much.

Show me people who said 1080p made games better then anything else?  Also casuals do know 1080p is a well known term now.  It is not 2001. Why are you so bitter?   Games revolve around tech that's a fact of life.  Nothing wrong with wanting progress.

People spend 400 bucks on a console are allowed to prefer the same game at 1080p versus 900 or 720p on another system,  especially those who own both.

It's not like I intended to get it on anything that's not PC.

Rockstar is amazing. They're one of the few studios that never seem to dissapoint. Want to buy it day one, but november is gonna rip my wallet apart if I do that.

Their latest GTAs disappointed me.

Hmm that's sad to hear, maybe they do dissapoint some people. But in my eyes they seem to strive for some of the best quality games out there. RDR, LA Noire, MP3, GTA V ... just to name the most recent.

I do hope you could at least agree that there is more respect for them than for the more bigger players in the business like Ubisoft, Activision and ahum EA ahum.

Add me on Xbox: DWTKarma

I'm just excited for first person mode with mouse and keyboard. After far cry 3, the wait for 4 was way too long for me. But now I get two pieces of open world fps candy this winter.

4 ≈ One

I was cheering for 1080p @ 60fps.

i think 60FPS will be asking for too much imo in a game like this, id rather lock it at 30FPS and crank up details

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Whatever, I'm still excited for it.

And then Ubisoft says AC Unity cannot achieve 1080p, oh please.

It's easier for Rockstar because this game is a remake vs a new game built from scratch.

Can't wait for PC release !

I can still recall the moment when I realized that something was wrong with GTA V: the moment that I got a 'mission passed' screen from simply purchasing a mask. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks. That's when I realized much of the game is little more than glorified button prompts. Missions that told me where to drive to on a map so that I could listen to the guy riding shotgun yammer story in my ear. After that I'd sit and watch a cutscene and then wait for a guy to tell me when to fire my sniper rifle while he continued to yammer story in my ear. The whole torture sequence in one of the missions, that had scant gameplay in it. It was just button prompts, what challenge exists there? Little to none. The torture sequence was put there for the sake of getting some controversy and controversy helps sell a game. Considering the lengths Rockstar will go to sell their game (benches, billboards, sides of buses, faces of buildings), I wouldn't doubt it. It was marketing, not good game design philosophy that decided on that mission.

GTA 5 is great from a technical level and this upgrade to 1080p will surely impress many but from a game design perspective, it's still horribly uninspired. I need to go play San Andreas again to see if perhaps this is just me growing jaded or if indeed GTA is becoming just a means to an end: Rockstar's bank account.
