I always find it interesting that Forbes has a lot of articles about gaming. Kind of the opposite of the stereotype that I would expect.

Its usually one guy who does the gaming articles. He seems pretty reliable.

After a few people commented about the article, I went back and read the author's bio.  He seems like a credible guy.  Of course, the article is his opinion like every other article in Forbes.  It is funny still that Forbes in general are smart enough to have gaming content.

It is near the end of the end....

Yep, they know gaming is a credible industry now. Generally you have to support every viable market now if you want the largest market possible to become subscribers. The only issue is sometimes these publications lose sight of their reason for being.

I would think that if it were M$ marketing, it woud have a lot less commentary on how bad they did up til now?  Most of what he says seems pretty truthful about M$ putting themselves in this spot to begin with.

Doesn't PS4 already have HBO go and offer all the big services that Xbox does? Redbox, Video unlimited, and exclusive programming such as powers help its multimedia at least equal Xbox. Software is at least equal given the dead period from Titanfall till October while Sony was bringing at least 3 games I can think of to PS4 even if they were cross gen and remasters. It should cost less and the fact that they had to use hunger shows me this list should have been 3 reasons or come up with something better. The system has good software for its audience and a fun online experience and is priced competitively now. Let's just be happy with that but not make up advantages where there are none.

It's been announced for PS4 but not released yet.

All terrible reasons.

The bundles this holiday season are almost too good to pass up, but I'm still holding out until next year when the inevitable "X1 Slim" model gets released. Plus 2015 is shaping up to be a banner year for now-current gen consoles. This year's big titles are just updated ports of last-gen games (TLOU, GTAV, Halo:MCC) or more of the same (COD, AC, etc). I'm anxiously awaiting for titles like EVOLVE, Witcher 3, and whatever surprises both M$ and Sony have for the 2nd half of next year.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Price/value edge is a fairly easy argument in favor of the XBO, although that still depends upon the software and services preferences of the consumer.

Plenty of people paid $500 for an XBO last year even though the PS4 was $100 less, even if said buyers wanted little or nothing to do with Kinect. They still paid the premium because they wanted to play on XBL or they wanted the upcoming MS Studios exclusives tied to the Xbox brand.

Doesn't change the fact that a consumer can buy more than one XBO bundle for $350 this season, bundled with a game they would likely buy as a part of their initial purchase anyway, giving it an effective $100 price advantage over a PS4 bundle.

Whether price alone is enough to make consumers choose one platform over the other one year later remains to be seen.

It does strike as me being odd that the price advantage, which disappears with Kinect bundles was used along with Kinect as a reason for buying an XBO though. Either you save the $100 with a Kinect free bundle, or you spend $450 for a Kinect SKU. You can't buy an XBO for both reasons.

At any rate, there are a lot more than 5 reasons to buy an XBO this season. I'd argue that the best reason would be if one already has a PS4, they're a heavy gamer who buys multiple consoles and they want to pick up a great deal on an XBO only one year on the market.

So 4 reasons lol. Actually 3 if you consider that kinect removes the price part.
