Assassin’s Creed Unity leaker provides clarity on its graphical fidelity

Recently, an anonymous individual leaked gameplay from the PlayStation 4 version of Assassin’s Creed Unity. Which, in itself is quite interesting, seeing as Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Unity isn’t officially slated to release until November 11th.
The fact that the PlayStation 4 version of Assassin’s Creed Unity is already out and about in the wild somewhere, two weeks before the game’s official launch date, is intriguing to say the least.
Regardless, the leaker has noticed the criticisms of the gaming community in regards to the graphical fidelity of Assassin’s Creed Unity, and subsequently provided some clarification on the game’s graphics.
Read what the Assassin’s Creed Unity leaker had to say regarding its graphical fidelity below.
Assassin’s Creed Unity Leaker Provides Clarity On Graphics
The following statements comes from a smattering of translated posts by the leaker on the French video website – JeuxVideo.com (interesting, relevant passages have been bold-faced):
“The images have been around the web. I see them all over again on foreign websites. Just like the video. It’s a bit out of control…and it saddens me a bit.
The problem is that I see people tearing and criticizing the game (especially on NeoGAF), and it has become ridiculous. Some even wonder if the images were retouched.
As they quote and translate my posts, I want to say that the images are taken directly from the screenshot function of the PS4 and that function deteriorates – a little – the images…I often take screenshots with FRAPS when I am gaming in 4K resolution, so I can tell that the screenshot function of the PS4 is not very good.
You have to know that the game looks much better in motion – as shown in the videos. So, yes there are times when it’s a bit ugly, and others where it is very beautiful. You must understand that Ubisoft had to make a compromise between graphics and population density, animations, streets, and plenty of small details.
When you have copy of the game in your hands, and take a step back, you will realize that this game (Assassin’s Creed Unity) is really innovative in its own way. I have never seen so many people, so many little animations and when I let the controller down, and listen to the conversations of the NPCs, I can not even imagine all the work that there is behind it.
Paris is huge, vibrant, and deep. It is a success. Perhaps we will be entitled to a day-one patch too.
Well yes, Ubisoft LIED on screenshots posted and videos published so far, and it does not hesitate to criticize them. The big point is the low quality textures in the distance.
But this game is still beautiful, lively, and really fun to play. I know the graphics are important to many people, but please guys…Ubisoft gives us an AC in France, in Paris during the French Revolution, be happy and enjoy the game.”

Assassin’s Creed Unity is releasing on November 11th (NA) and November 13th (EU). The game will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
