Forums - Gaming - Dying Light PS3, Xbox 360 ports cancelled, “just couldn’t run the game”

I actually believe them, the game does look pretty demanding and it would probably be a horrible game on last gen.

It does look visually great. But BF4 on 360 and PS3 were also impressive. Far Cry 4 is still coming 7th gen as well.

I think this decision was mostly motivated by lack luster sales of cross plat 7th gen software.

This game was always Day One for me, and I'm very happy they annouced this. Last gen versions held back so many promising games, I am now confident this game will be awesome.
There should be no cross gen games in 2015, glad the year will start exactly like that... Far Cry is the last cross gen game I will buy, ever...

They developed for next gen and then wondered why the code wouldn't run on the old consoles even though they also had a CPU and GPU. Then they gave up.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Nice decision, the start of next year is looking really strong for next gen only games now for XBO and PS4 (especially PS4 with Bloodborne and The Order).

Considering it was already delayed once I think this is just because they are way behind on development on those versions and just want to shorten the workload.

maybe. but it really seemed like a game hard to pull off on 360 and PS3. i guess their decision to do this is more to try and hype the game and realizing that old gen ports are selling as much as people expected, that its not really worth it.  im kind of glad by this because i think they will push PS4 and XB1 a bit harder now and try do stuff they couldnt on PS3 and 360. even if its just zombie count.

But I agree with Puggsly. It's probably that they thought the market for seventh gen wasn't the same as before and thus releasing it there would compromise global sales. it's too late in the development cycle to just come with something like this.

I mean, no point in comparing, but Wolfenstein: The new Order is a demanding game, and it could be pulled off on 360. Albeit with 4 DVDs, but pulled off still.

i agree, thats why i said even if its just more zombies on screen id be happy, i dont expect major changes.

i dont expect they made this decision today or soon, i think they just decided to announce it now well maybe. or maybe they were trying to push the ps4 and xb1 and hoped to be able to pull it off on last gen consoles but couldnt, and said fuck it instead of downgrading the game and gameplay to make them fit.

Excellent!

Sure why not, I'm not mad.

Translation: We've been looking at last gen software sales and they're shit, not worth the effort. I'm sure the ps3, 360 versions are currently running at 20fps, 480p but they would have put in the work to get a frequent 30fps, non native 720p. Then again there were tons of zombies in recent footage, maybe they genuinely didn't want to compromise on the experience.

I think a lot of cross gen games are secretly getting cancelled. Hopefully next year it'll just be Fifa, madden and few other scraps entertaining last gen system owners.A shame about Battlefield Hardline...
