Forums - Gaming - Dying Light PS3, Xbox 360 ports cancelled, “just couldn’t run the game”

The game is published by Warner Brothers.
They were the first to abandon last gen announcing Batman some 6-8 months ago.
They also pushed back last-gen versions of Mordor almost 2 months, leaving them to die, probably because they were completed already.
The Witcher 3 is next-gen only.

This leaves (outside LEGO) only Mortal Kombat and Mad Max as their cross-gen games. Wouldn't surprise me to read the cancellation announcements in the following weeks...

In the end, the last cross-gen game published will probably be Tomb Raider....

I don't think this is true and I bet work on 7th gen versions are mostly complete.

I imagine what really happened is 7th gen software sales have dwindled faster than anticipated so they got cancelled. Pushing it as a "true next gen experience" will garner interest.

This is way too late in development for them to come to that conclusion.

This.

It's nice to see this particular shoe on the console gamers foot for a change.

Now you know how PC gamers have felt, since forever.

Old-tech holding back the latest and greatest... Such a first world problem. :P

I will keep my eye on this.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I have to agree as well, isnt this game releasing in 3-4 months? surely they realised earlier on if it could work or not on ps360

I think this move is just short sighted since the game was still partially designed around the constraints of last gen consoles ...

If they were going to degrade the game for older platforms then they may as well not bothered to have put any effort for current gen consoles.

I fail to see how this move is rational on the developers part when they didn't even exclude older hardware initially ...

I'm just enjoying the hypocrisy of it all.

They're using the Chrome Engine 6 for Dying Light, which probably has strong roots in Chrome Engine 5, however the Chrome Engine 6 has never seen the light of day on the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3.
So really, the light was already dead for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 before this accouncement, but it was free PR I suppose with this flip-flop tactic.

I should probably stop with the puns before my lights are knocked out.
