At the end of the day the video game industry is basically hit or miss.......sometimes you have a successful product sometimes you don't every generation is different .....Sony is having great success with the ps4 whereas they didn't with the ps3...... Nintendo isn't having great success with the wii u but had great success with the wii......I've been gaming since the 70s each generation is different shrugs"......I liked it better when it was no fanboyism and people enjoyed and just played games but this is a different type of gamer nowadays

Honestly, as a consumer, I even prefer suffering consoles. My favourite systems ever? N64 and Gamecube. My favourite Sony console? PS3.
True is developers tend to work their asses off when in a bad situation. And the result is better games :D

The last few years of the PS3 it was making profit, besides that if it wasn't for the 80 million consoles that the PS3 sold and the support it received from Sony the PS4 wouldn't be doing as well as it is.

I'm right. Any company that is smart would favour long term profitability over a one off profit. That is what selling 80 million consoles has given Sony. Now the PS4 looks set to further that and make the initial investment even more worthwhilE

You just stated what I said was right .....long term profitability .....Nintendo has Made a profit off every home consoled they have released that is called long term profitability ...lol...Sony has not made back all the money they have lost on the ps3 ......you said selling 80,000,000 was great but how great is that if you can't turn a profit ...that makes zero sense .......did you see the graph on the sells of all three companies ....Nintendo has made 25 billion ......Sony 2 billion and Microsoft has never profited off the xbox brand loses billions ..I'm gonna show you the graph

i thought wii u was finally making profit since june? or am i wrong cs i swore nintendo saix ld they were making money on every wii u now sold

Long term profitability as in investment now will lead to lots of profits in the future. Sony have done that with the PS consoles, the PS4 is now set to make plenty of money because of it's prior investments.

Nintendo haven't done that. They haven't effectively built up a brand. Did the success of the Wii translate into the Wii U doing really well? Nope, the Wii was a short term profit and now they are screwed with the Wii U.

Lol really ...they haven't built up a brand lol ....how do you think they made a profit once again on every home console made lol what are you talking about lol you act like Nintendo is doing terrible last time I checked they are number 1 in portable hardware and number two in home  hardware ....Nintendo isn't doing nearly as bad as people make it out to be and in the next 3 years all sales will be profit since the wii u isn't gonna be sold as a loss and have quality first party software that's coming out ....also to your point ps3 sold half of what playstation 2 sold so would that in your eyes be considered as building abrand just a question lol

How could selling 80 million units for both MS and Sony not turn a profit when Nintendo, the company that has been in the console business the longest, only surpassed that mark ONCE with the Wii?
