Which was better?

God of War. 275 69.97%

Devil May Cry. 118 30.03%

Total:393

i love both, and the end of god of war III was crazy amazing, but i think my favorite game out of both franchises is still devil may cry 3.

so... i guess i'd have to choose dmc. i'm glad both franchises exist though.

DMC for me. Even the reboot DMC I find more enjoyable than GOW. I guess I find the sword+gun combo more appealing.

But outside those two...Darksiders all the way. :)

God Of War is better. I liked DMC, but never as much s GOW.

DMCs combat is too hard for me, know what I mean? The streets have spoken.

GOW is the best game of its genre, sales and critical acclaim prove this

Sales and critical acclaim only prove popularity. It's still just opinions.

As I said before, GOW was the better overall product. Bayonetta gets away with senseless stories because it has no competition. People have forgotten what it was like for games like DMC to have competition like GOW in its hey day. If Sony Santa Monica was handed Heavenly Sword We might have a great new heroine on the PS4.

Bayonetta doesn't "get away" with anything; it simply puts fun first, as every video game should.

I prefer DMC overall to GoW. I prefer the gameplay of DMC and Dante as a character. I always found Kratos thoroughly unlikeable in every aspect. Bayonetta is miles above either one of them, however.

I liked the whole shamelessly cheesy aspect of the Bayonetta series. Its gameplay was far more fun for me than any other game in its genre.  Story is a secondary and perhaps tertiary concern in a genre like that.

Kratos' personality aside, his character design just screams "Todd McFarlane Toys," which, if you can't tell from the tone of my post, is a negative thing.

Im talking about the nonsensical story. Of course I am a hack n slash player and Bayonetta (of course its one of my favorite hack n slashes ever)was a challenging one but it is known for the fact that you have to put the story to the side. God of War balanced the action with the presentation into one cohesive unit, which is why it became the package the it became. Bayonetta is underrated and lacks because of it but it has its own beauty and charm. This is why I cannot wait to play Bayonetta 2. Its the spiritual successor to DMC and does it in a way that would make even DMC blush. Neither games had great stories nor did they rely on them, but rather the stylish look and style of the characters. It was the attitude that made them stand out in their respective eras. Kratos....Kratos is just a beast.
